A bit forward or the way it's done?

Yesterday I got a message from a bloke on a dating site. After asking whereabouts in the city I lived he asked me how my weekend was. I told him what I'd done last weekend and he replied with "what I meant to ask was would you like to meet on saturday?"

After two one line messages, is it not a bit soon/forward to ask to meet up? or is this the done thing?

Could you just say you're busy and can you keep chatting as he seems nice? See how he reacts. If he loses interest you know he was a weirdy

Agree with crazyloon - no point meeting him until you know a bit more about him. As 'forward' messages go, it's not too bad - one of my dh's work colleagues was set up with a guy by her friend. He sent her two text messages. One said 'face?' the other said 'cock?' - with accompanying photos.
She passed on the offer of a date, not surprisingly...

I think I would want to suss him out a bit first and would tell him I was a bit nervous and would like to text/phone/e-mail before meeting face to face.

Superdenki - that made me spit my tea all over the keyboard.
