so can you get past cheating?

Just thinking after readingf psychomum's thread - how many of us have coped with a partner's cheating in this or a previous relationship? jdo we forgive and forget? how many of us have cheated?

My dh cheated on me the weekend we discovered i was pg with dd (planned). We already had a ds who was maybe 18 months at the time and we weren't married (then) I honestly thought I'd never be able o forgive him at the time, but I did eventually as i figured we had more to lose than to gain IYSWIM. Now I hardly think about it, except when he went out on a work's night out recently. I chose not to go, as I feel I have to demonstrate my trust for him now. The Other Woman was there and made off with one of the other (married) men at the party (slapper). Sp how much does this really happen?

Well, everyone knows my story. I didn't cope with it. I blew our marriage out of the water and nearly killed myself in the process.

I do admire people who can get back on track with their straying DP's, but at the bottom of everything I don't think I actually liked my XH very much, so there would have been little point trying to rebuild the marriage. Even though I loved him, I didn't like him. He was quite disrespectful to me.

So I think it depends on whether your DP is basically a decent person who's made a mistake, or a total narcissist. I suppose you think to yourself 'what are the chances of it happening again?' and as the answer was 'it definitely will' in my case, it really just wasn't worth it.
