Marriage broken down, anyone have any ideas on this for me????

ok, marriage broken down... We have one son and future ex has one from previous relationship....Marriage is totally over leading completely seperate lives....I want out of the joint mortgage and the house to move to rented accomdation....other party has refused to sell house.....If i move with my son am i still expected to pay my half of the mortgage... it feels like im being trapped into staying in the house even though we live apart (in the same house)... Anyone have any ideas for me???

See a solicitor, find out what you can reasonably demand. You would not be forced by law to stay in a house with your ex, or to pay for it if you move.

I think unless you come to some private agreement then you will if your name is on the mortgage. You could take it to court and they may rule that the house be sold. Does your EX'schild live with you?

yes he does live with us still, aged 15 now.....I have said for months that we need to sell and resolve this to move on.... just refuses point blank... Trouble comes when you can see that this is going to involve a lot of money
