He's cheating isn't he?

Partner of 4 years cheated 2 years ago. I caught him sexting her. He had cheated in his previous partner with same woman. Woman is related to his ex partner. When I caught him 2 years ago he had picked up a distinctive laugh. Anyway a few weeks ago he took his old phone out of storage and it's been on his desk for weeks. He hasn't used his smart watch in about a year but has suddenly decided he wants to wear it again. I caught him 2 years ago via the watch. At weekend he did the same laugh. I said absolutely nothing. Later that day he brought it up saying oh, you know that laugh you hate. I noticed my daughter does it. He said that 2 years ago but cited a different daughter. Obviously he swears there's nothing going on. Weekend was a blow up and now he's booked a trip away and is being extra lovely.

He's stonewalling me now so I say sorry. He's got a cheek. Yes the laugh he started doing last time he was involved with her. It slipped out at the weekend and I pretended not to notice. Later in the day he brought it up and said he'd noticed his daughter does it. He said that about his other daughter two years ago. He sees them often so it wouldn't vanish for two years then suddenly reappear if it was something he picked up from his kids. I don't think he's after replacing me, hence his love bombing and booking nice hotel suites for us to have a luxury break away. I think he just gets a cheap validation thrill from it. It's sad really. He could've had the most loyal drama free kind woman. Oh and the OW is his ex wife's sister who he did the dirty on with her own sister. He clearly doesn't give a shit and neither does she.

You know he is...he knows he is. What ya gonna do about it? I could NOT have this level of deceptiveness in my life. You know what to do babe

When they “swear on their kids lives” they are absolutely cheating and lying. I believe it’s in the Cheaters Handbook page one.

I've heard " I swear on my babies eyes" before. [not me I add!]

Just plan your exit babe

Quamarina · 21/10/2026 13:33

His ex wife’s sister - his children’s auntie!? What!!

my instinct has served me well, as has yours by the sound of it but he’s stupid & careless, honestly of course using the same technology again that he hasn’t touched since you caught him is going to raise suspicion.

pinkyredrose · 21/10/2026 13:33

Why the hell are you with him? Do you live together?

TheLastSilverSaint · 21/10/2026 13:36

Oh ffs, stop going on about the laugh and dump him. He’s already humiliated you by cheating on you two years ago, you knew he had a track record of cheating on his previous partner with one of her relatives. Why would you even entertain the idea of a relationship with him at all?

Notahappybunny22 · 21/10/2026 13:37

Yeah we live together. Have done for 3 years. If you saw us together you may raise an eyebrow. People comment often how we look odd. He's older and punching above his weight. I love him deeply and he knows it

Why do you love him when he so clearly doesn't love or respect you?

Good question. I'm starting to question myself when I know damn well I'm right

He’s cheating or has definitely cheated in the past. Move on.

I’m sorry, this is such a hard fact to face up to. But the fact you’ve reached out finally means you’re ready. It sometimes takes for others to point out wtaf does he do for you and tell us that we’re not supposed to take this and you can do this, and you should. Once you’re gone, you’ll have the time of your life, date some hot guys and meet the one who deserves you. You’re strong, update us!

Laurmolonlabe · 21/10/2026 13:54

Anger, followed by a trip and being really nice is definitely cheating behaviour.

pinkyredrose · 21/10/2026 13:55

What is it you love about him?

Why do you live together, was it his idea or yours?

OldrNWisr · 21/10/2026 14:03

Serial cheat who slept with his wife’s sister? Why exactly do you love him? He sounds like the absolute worst specimen of a man imaginable. And yes, it’s very likely he’s at it again. You deserve better than this.

ginasevern · 21/10/2026 14:03

Yes he's cheating (again) OP. Take the sleazeball out with the rubbish, life's too short for this.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 21/10/2026 14:28

So is the aunt with someone else?

Wishimaywishimight · 21/10/2026 14:36

BoogieVoogieAllNightLong · 21/10/2026 12:57

If I've understood correctly, the OW has a distinctive laugh and he's subconsciously copying it due to hearing it so frequently.

Ah ok, thank you!

Coldmorningfog · 21/10/2026 14:40

Why hasn’t he just got with this OW before? It’s very Charles and Camilla behind Diana’s back vibe.

LTB.

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 21/10/2026 14:40

I could be wrong here and if so apologies.

But the way you write about him being really lovely... it sort of sounds like that's not normal behaviour.
How is he normally?

It also sounds like he's giving you extra attention to stop you protesting.

If you have access to his phone/watch.. I'd be doing a bit of look through that now, although I know most mumsnetters disagree with that. But I think its fair game because of the stress this is causing you and because you know he has form for it.

Also.. you mention a big age gap. Are you keen on looking after a serial aging cheater? Don't waste your youth and maybe your fertile years on someone like this. Even if you get over this episode like the last - are you prepared to get over episode 3?

LowlandLucky · 21/10/2026 14:59

You know he is cheating. You now have to decide if this is how you are going to live your life or if you have more respect for yourself.

BoomerWatkins · 21/10/2026 15:13

It’s in his DNA to play around whether seriously or not. He doesn’t have to have had an affair for you to leave him but I would for your own sanity.

Notahappybunny22 · 21/10/2026 15:13

Yeah. Episode 3. Sod that. Not a huge age gap but it looks larger than it is

OP posts:
Sodthesystem · 21/10/2026 15:26

Well, most relationships have an expired date and this one has reached its.
Change the locks while he’s away and send his stuff to his mums.

The only point of a partner is to make your life happier. He’s literally doing the opposite. Bye bye boy.

Yeah never punch down.

They don’t think “wow I bagged her, how lucky I am!” They think “if I got her, I must be special, so what else could I get?”
