Was it inappropriate to use the bathroom bin for a sanitary pad?

I am working in small company. We had staff party at someone house and I was drunk but I would say I do remember everything to this point. I get along with my team very well.

I feel like there is rumours after this. I am pretty sure. I did probably put my used sanitary pad ( no periods just everyday use ones) in provided bin in bathroom after using toilet. It was a male who ones the house. If I would of been sober I probably would of lost my tracks better -I feel like it got unwrapped. I feel like he have cleaned the bin and been told about it to others like "who does that" and some people do some crazy things"there is some nicknames called out. It is background gossip.

I have confronted him by asking if there is something you wanna say please do. Says there is not and that's that. Been one more comment after that I feel. I didn't say myself anything as well. Just that if there is some talks I am thinking it is childish and immature. And to ignore me if he is not saying anything behind my back.

I feel so depressed as I was a respected in my team and this situation have brought me so down. I try to keep my head up as I think they are wrong to initiate females like that as it is natural thing.

I am starting to overthink did I do Something else but to be honest I am quite sure that was it and my brain is just starting to play trick on me.

Was I wrong doing it?

No one wants to see a pad sunny side up in the bin, it’s gross. Please roll them and wrap in tissue in future. It’s immature of them to talk about it and embarrass you but I’d be privately very cross at having to clear that up after you if you did that in my house.

“pad sunny side up” 😂😂😂🤢🤢what a beautiful way with words 😜🤪😂

malefields · 18/09/2026 07:14

Regardless of whether you wrapped it or not, it’s weird of them to publicly comment on a one off bin situation like that.

They sound like immature dickheads.

They are being horrible. It sounds very uncomfortable working there.. nasty work culture. Can you talk to a woman there maybe, as they might be also talking about a different person.

You know these are a total marketing ploy right? You don't need a bit of plastic in your knickers to 'be clean'

Exactly this. Weird. Clean underwear and washing yourself keeps you clean.

DozyCrow · 18/09/2026 07:23

I think there's a few things here.

Firstly, many, if not most women do not wear pads every single day. If you're having problems with excess discharge then pop and see your GP to see if there's an issue.

If you're visiting someone's house and need to change your pad (not sure why you needed to do that there if you weren't even bleeding) then you must ensure it's securely wrapped before disposing of it. It's not enough to lay it in the bin and put a bit of toilet paper over it. No one wants to see your soiled pads.

Lastly, the drunkenness. There's nothing wrong with having some drinks, but if you were out with colleagues, and at a party in one of their houses, then probably best to be aware of yourself and your behaviour if you don't want to get judged or talked about by them. Sounds like you were so drunk you can't even remember if you wrapped your pad properly.

Lots of ‘would of ’ ‘might of’ in this post. From the writing it might be that English is a second language?

malloryknox123 · 18/09/2026 07:26

Highly immature of them to discuss this, it is crass of them not you. Even if it was blood soaked, which it wasn’t, they would still be extremely out of order to shame you for that.

Amberlynnswashcloth · 18/09/2026 07:30

They sound about 12 years old! Most people would assume this is what a toilet bin is for.

You're not the first person to have a neatly wrapped pad unfurl itself in the bin or as I've seen in public loos have them attach themselves to the underside of the lid and spring up. Unfortunate but the mature response on their part would've been to shove some tissue on top and ignore - not humiliate you about it.

I'd start looking for another job.

Whenthecriwdsayno · 18/09/2026 07:32

They are very childish but something like this needs to be folded and put in tissue. If you’re not used to having that in your bin and then see it there it will gross you out.

However like I said, they are very childish to be so fascinated by it.

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 18/09/2026 07:33

In every thread about bins in bathrooms, the general consensus is that it’s ridiculous NOT to have a bin, as where else is one supposed to dispose of one’s sanitary waste?

Now a woman uses a bin for its purpose and people are calling her gross and grim. WTF else was she supposed to do with it?? 🙄.

Also, of course you can wear pads every day FFS. What about incontinence pads and liners? If they were “unhealthy” or gave you “nappy rash” a lot of women would be fucked.

I disagree, that's native English.

RosesAndHellebores · 18/09/2026 07:36

I guess the best advice is not to get blind drunk with work colleagues. The work colleagues sound vile.

guestofclanmackenzie · 18/09/2026 07:38

Strange how so many women commenting in this thread have never heard of panty liners. Supermarkets have had shelves full of them for years.

WhosGotTheKeysToMyBimma · 18/09/2026 07:38

Are you even sure it's about the pad OP?

From what you've said it is not clear that's what they are commenting on

But you can't think of anything else you might have done so you're now paranoid

Either way they are being nasty bullies

Ifeelold48 · 18/09/2026 07:39

Just ignore them. You put a pad in a bathroom bin. It'd nog a big deal. I feel sorry for them. It sounds like they arent often around woman. With their attitudes i imagine they dont often experience anything vagina related.

IAmInTheHouseSidney · 18/09/2026 07:42

I don't know how others worked out these guys are misogynistic or acting like 12 year olds or bullies because I read op's posts 3 times and can't make out what their comments are actually about and who are they aimed at. It's just op talking about liner anf feeling like it's about her?

hididdlyho · 18/09/2026 07:43

I'm not sure anything you've put in your posts indicates they were definitely talking about a used pad left in the bin, unless the nicknames obviously reference it. It sounds like being drunk has made you overly paranoid about the situation.

There's nothing wrong with using a bathroom bin to dispose of a well wrapped pad, but if it wasn't wrapped properly, became stuck on something and needed peeling off then that's a different scenario.

Totaldramallama · 18/09/2026 07:44

I'm quite confused by how anyone would know it was you who did it?

Perfect28 · 18/09/2026 07:45

Discharge is normal and not dirty. The gusset of your underwear is there to catch it. That's why we wear underwear...

IAmInTheHouseSidney · 18/09/2026 07:35

Native english???

No. Lazy or misunderstood english maybe.

The shortened form for would have is would’ve, the apostrophe stands for the missing letters - ha. Unfortunately, many people presume would’ve translates to would of.

HTH

Morecoffeeneedef · 18/09/2026 07:51

Honestly OP, stop getting so drunk that you embarrass yourself, especially in a work context. This isn't social drinking, it's a drink problem.

dreamingofgoodhair · 18/09/2026 07:26

It's a very common mistake amongst native English speakers.
