If you found this text exchange on your partners phone... what would you think?

Would you think he is fishing or innocent between male and female friends.

Him : you up to anything exciting today?

Her:
Just spending some time in the garden enjoying the sun. What about you?

Him: Just cleaning nothing exciting

Him -
Try not to burn anything in the sun (Wink face)

Her: Will try my best (wink face)

Him: Lucky Neighbours (Wink face)

Her: Ha, they are on holiday at the moment

Him: Lucky you x Promise i wont look (wink face

Her: Shocked face

Other things include random messages saying how her profile picture is stunning.

Saying how luck he would have been if she had ended up with him all those years ago

I'd think he's flirting with her and I'd be very pissed off 🤷‍♀️

Everyothernamewasalreadyinuse · 15/06/2026 12:06

Yes, thats how i read it, Like he is fishing to move it forward

For me, the messages alone would be way over the line. It's signalling attraction to another person and seeing how they'll respond.

Personally, I would see it as disrespectful, hurtful, and unless he's completely open about it, dishonest in a very specific disappointing (and honestly, very cringey) way.

If you haven't talked about boundaries before, maybe he thinks this is okay behaviour, but that doesn't make it okay.

Stepmum900 · 15/06/2026 12:29

Yeah he’s turning the convo to be sexual. I wouldn’t be happy at all!

exhaustDAD · 15/06/2026 12:33

Definitely crossing lines. Nobody should be happy with this. I would be upset if my wife was talking this way with some guy, too. (I know it is reversed)

Sunshinemoonlightboogie · 15/06/2026 12:40

Absolutely unacceptable. He’s fishing. Yuk!

Toooldtocare25 · 15/06/2026 12:49

Absolutely flirty with just the emojis . What a ball bag

Gardenisablooming · 15/06/2026 12:50

He sounds like an immature creep tbh...

CinnamonBuns67 · 15/06/2026 12:54

I'd be fuming. Would he speak to his male friends like that? That's really obvious flirting

Everyothernamewasalreadyinuse · 15/06/2026 12:55

Yep, agree with you all.
Makes it even worse is that this was the week my mum died, so i was completely broken. He should have been worried about me. instead he was fishing to get his dick wet

Yes he's clearly crossed the line.

What are you going to do about it?

Everyothernamewasalreadyinuse · 15/06/2026 13:47

Walk away.

How someone who loves you could do this when you are at your lowest, knowing how much extra pain it would cause you, and still going ahead because their ego stroke was more important than there relationship with you means it is pretty much dead in the water

He's obviously sussing her out, and she's definitely responding positively. I would be keeping a very close eye on this, or shutting it down right now. Matter of time until something happens.

PS why have you answered your own question above?

Plaatro · 15/06/2026 17:06

It’s possible from that that this isn’t the first time either! Seems very familiar. Disgusting when you are grieving.

The poster before asked

“what are you going to do”

Sunshinemoonlightboogie · 15/06/2026 17:22

I’m so sorry, that just sums up his character. He’s shown you exactly who he is and he is not worthy of you!

I’m sorry about your mum.

WhereverIlaymycatthatsmyhome · 15/06/2026 17:26

I am so sorry. He’s scum and she deserves him.

Ohh, got you, thank you. I read it another way and it makes sense now. Apologies op.

Barmybrack · 15/06/2026 18:09

Sorry for your loss.

Getting rid of this scum will not be a loss, this looks very habitual and comfortable, not a first time testing the waters kind of conversation.

I'm so sorry for your loss. His behaviour is callous, uncaring and completely unforgivable.

Tuesdayschild50 · 16/06/2026 19:07

He's an arsehole !!

Buffs · 16/06/2026 20:05

Yes, he crossed a line.

pouletvous · 16/06/2026 21:10

Absolutely over the line
not acceptable in any way

DollydaydreamTheThird · 16/06/2026 21:28

Massive arsehole. Get rid OP. So sorry for the loss of your mum I can't imagine how hurtful this must feel in that context. You deserve so much better than this. 💙
