How often do you have sex when you have a baby?

Apologies for the personal nature of this thread! Mind if I just do a quick straw poll?

How often would you expect to have sex, and how often would you actually have sex if you had a baby under say 1 year old who isn't sleeping through the night yet? What's good going? What's a lot to ask for?

That was my next stage - how did you found it? I've heard a few scary reports about hair loss etc.

HOw often.... not enough!

I have 3 under 4 and am lucky at once to twice a month!

fizzbuzz · 14/06/2008 09:12

The urologist I was seeing knew about it. It is on a named patient basis only, so I think you have to pay for it. It was about £30.00 per month.

I didn't have any side effects. It takes a bit to work, but I would say it did lessen the symptoms a bit, although I only took it for about 5 months.

I've just registered on this site but am actually a dad. I'm facing being the main carer when my wife goes back to work but I've had a look on this site and a lot of the issues like this are relevant to my situation. Can I make a comment or will I be kicked off for being a nosey man?

Flibbertyjibbet · 15/06/2008 00:30

Is your comment about how often you have sex with a baby, or do you need to start a new thread about your comment?
Welcome to mumsnet - some mums occasionally moan about men posting on MUMSnet but most of us look on it as a parenting forum.

Mumsnet is a whole lot catchier than parentsnet isn't it

I've just discovered a book called Babyproofing Your Marriage and it's absolutely brilliant. Me and DH had a big talk through this weekend about a whole load of things, followed by a bit of a sex sesh sorry for TMI!

THis is the website: www.babyproofingyourmarriage.com/

This is the book:

flibberty- I think you need to re-phrase your question - "how often do you have sex with a baby????

girlnextdoor · 15/06/2008 10:45

crap typing

sex with a baby

Nemoandthefishes · 15/06/2008 11:04

I have sex at least twice a week with dh obviously and we have a 4,2 and 1 yr old and only eldest is sleeping through.Resumed sex within couple of weeks giving birth each time hence only 12mth gap between the dds

Sassafrass · 15/06/2008 12:52

With a baby that's not sleeping well I'd be happy with twice a month tbh.

Flibbertyjibbet · 15/06/2008 14:24

Hopefully the time of the post last night and the glass of wine I had had will excuse that mother-of-all-typos that I did!!

WHEN you have a baby.

Shooflypie · 16/06/2008 18:27

What if you are co-sleeping though?

DP and I have only managed once since DS was born 11 weeks ago - and that was when the ILs were staying and we snuck off briefly during the afternoon. Which was pretty as it was a bit obvious what we were up to and as a result it wasn't really our finest sesh tbh.....

turtle23 · 16/06/2008 20:33

Shoofly...if you are co-sleeping, that leaves the WHOLE REST OF THE HOUSE to do it in. We boxed DS in on the bed and remembered that the spare room was free...
