Does anyone on here think they have never experienced true love?Im fast approaching 40 and feel i have never experienced it.Only time i came close to it was 10 years ago when i had a relationship with a very damaged alcoholic. He went on to damage me and it took me a long time to recover.Mental scars ran deep.Have never come close before or since.Sad but true.

Well look, its friday night and late so it is a perfect timeto feel unsure of yourself and a bit regretful. There are all sorts of love. The idea of true love is an invention of (18th?) century.

Find someone you need, and trust and makes you feel good. that's pretty much love and then chuck in your own variations....

mine would include good sex/ respect and passionate

mumtobe2 · 08/06/2008 10:13

I was never sure if I had been truly in love with anyone, and that included the man I was married to for 7 years!
I know I am in love with my new DP in a way I have never been before though.

Happypill · 09/06/2008 19:54

I don't think I have felt true love for my DH. I love him, certainly, but the love I feel for my DCs feels like I always believed real love should feel like (if that makes sense). I also think that I came close to true love for someone about 5 years ago but I can't talk about it or allow myself to think about it because it caused untold hurt to too many people (me, DH, him). But I do feel terribly sad that despite loving DH I'm not sure if it really is true love

Yes am with someone currently, father of my dd2.Complicated story tho as we havent been together long in a relationship sense.Got pregnant during brief fling with him then split up after i decided to keep the baby as decided he wasnt for me.My dd has kind of thrown us together in a way and i have realised he has a lot of qualities to offer so we have decided to make a go of it again not long ago.Even though he is a lovely trustworthy person and is good looking, good hearted, kind etc i dont feel passion for him and feel he is more like a friend who i sleep with occasionally.I really want to fall in love with him but it doesnt seem to happen and never has really.Often wonder if it is my problem or that i just havent met the right person.I worry that if i dont feel fully satisfied in this way then i could stray and hurt him.
