does 'we don't love each other anymore' mean, 'I don't love you anymore but I don't want to shoulder the entire blame' or 'I don't think you love me anymore and am trying to save face'?

If someone said it to me, I'd probably interpret it as the former. But that might just be me being too suspicious.

Toadinthehole · 27/05/2008 21:38

I'd interpret it as a comment on the way we had been treating each other, but I think it all depends on the person and the circumstances.

Hassled · 27/05/2008 21:40

Depends how it's said, and the background. Can't decide in isolation, sorry.

motherinferior · 27/05/2008 21:41

In my experience it tends to mean the former.

PinkTulips · 27/05/2008 22:02

would depend on whther i did love the someone or not of course.

if i didn't would presume latter, if i did former.

IME: the former

Esp. women have no problem with admitting that their spouses have cheated, done the dirty, etc after a while.

The former tends to be said by those that have decided to let go of the relationship because they don't want to (and why should they have to) explain in detail to all and sundry just why it didn't work.

Personally I don't think that relationships fall apart by the doing of just one partner. Something or other was amiss before but instead of rebuilding or giving the other a chance to explain/change/correct, they walk out. It's just so much easier than working on it.
