Hi
I'm 21 and have a 2 year old son and another on the way.
I lost touch with all my friends when my son was born, babies don't inetrest most 18 year olds.
There are loads of young mums near me but I don't bother with any of them as they are all very chavvy stupid girls in tracksuits and fitted caps that had babies so they can claim child benifit and get a couincl flat.
The thing I find the hardest is I can't get on with the young mums around here but the older mums don't really want to speak to me maybe because they think I will be the same as the other young mums around here.

bubblagirl · 13/05/2008 16:53

i have plenty of younger mums that i talk to so dont think all older mums are like that i thought that when i took my ds to pre school as all mums are older but i smile say hi and gradually we talk more

not many mum friends outside of pre school all my friends with children have moved away so only speak on phone

mums at pre school arent really friends either as we only have small talk but at least its adult conversation

When i was in hospital having dd1 i was definately in the minority but at the local school i would say its a fairly even split.

noahsmummy12 · 13/05/2008 21:48

I'm 22 and have a 13 month old and another one on the way. I still have most of my friends but they sometimes don't understand why I can't just come to the pub at the drop of a hat anymore.

candyfluff · 14/05/2008 14:26

i had my 1st son aged 18,my 2nd aged 21 and my 3rd aged 26.
i know what its like to be a young mum,its harder than i ever thought it would be.
i made lots of new friends at a local mother and toddler group as like you said nearly all my school friends from school still to this day and im 28 now still have yet to get married or have kids so i feel well old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
