Can we have a happy VD thread?

We've got a Galentines thread which is awesome but can we also have one for those of us with decent men (if only to show that they are out there!)

I'll start:

I had flowers, chocolate, a card and a takeaway coffee handed over at work before 7am this morning (the coffee was particularly appreciated as it was bloody cold this morning - i work outdoors)

Anyone else?

We're in our 60s, have been together for 30ish years - he got me flowers, I got him a card and a silly keyring thing. Currently waiting on a cheese (heart-shaped) delivery, plus very posh chocolates that we'll have after our fillet steak home-cooked dinner tonight. We have wine to go with the steak. I'm going to be making his favourite shortbread this afternoon - using my new heart-shaped cookie cutters. He took the day off work so we could spend it together :) We don't go OTT, but the little things are lovely!

This all sounds wonderful ❤️

Oh my god I am so excited about pancake day!

DP is the best at pancakes.
He cooks up a storm every pancake day. Me and the dts just demolish them

Goldpanther · 14/02/2025 12:38

We check at the start of the week if we have gotten each other cards or gifts 😄

Had a lovely card this morning and DH booked my favourite Italian for dinner tonight! He must have booked it weeks ago as it gets fully booked very quickly.

DH is very good at everyday romance stuff, he regularly gets me flowers or comes home with surprise chocolate/desserts.

I love them, I’m the pancake-maker and DP is the flipper 😂 it’s one day where I don’t care about the kitchen mess and it’s just fun chaos with as much caramel as possible!

I'm going away tonight with my daughter for a sports comp tomorrow so bought my husband some beer and chocolates to have while we watch Graham Norton on separate tvs tonight.

I have got him a card- the card I bought and forgot to give him last year.

StrongasSixpence · 14/02/2025 12:59

We don't 'do' Valentines Day by agreement so no disappointment. We do silly things though just for fun if we fancy it. I had some leftover fancy pastry so I made him a heart shaped pie for lunch. We are going out this evening with friends and generally are considerate and nice to each other so don't need a specific day.

stampin · 14/02/2025 13:18

DH gave me a personally engraved jewellery box, one with a little ballerina that twirls to music when you open it. I'd told him recently that I'd always longed for one as a child but my dad died and money was scarce.

He's not normally so thoughtful, so I'm very touched.

TheChosenTwo · 14/02/2025 13:20

Very low key day here for us, I got dh a sarcastic card and a bar of chocolate, he came home at lunch with some tulips (cos they’re my favourite over roses) and we had the house to ourselves for a bit so had some us time 😂
tonight he will make us dinner (as he does every night) and we will eat it with ds.
Low key but in line with us really.
He’s a good egg on balance!

DutchCowgirl · 14/02/2025 13:26

Its our 25th VD together!! So i got a card and coffee and a big hug (i don’t like flowers or chocolate ) and he also got a card from me.

A few years ago we had bought the same card, now we had different cards but almost the same message. Always so exciting 😂

Love this. I think this more the spirit than cards and gifts.

Unfortunate capital letters there!

Daisypod · 14/02/2025 13:32

Agee's with dh at the beginning of the week we would just do cards as usual (I'm perfectly happy with that).
This morning he hands me a gift bag of a card, chocolates, Lego set and a mug from a collection I collect!
I've dashed out and brought a meal deal from M&S and chocolate for him but I know he wasn't expecting anything in return he just wanted to treat me as it's been a tough week ❤️

Nanny31 · 14/02/2025 13:32

Chocolates and a 'sorry' card. Had a little tif yesterday 😂

You titled made me snigger because it reminded me of the Judy Blume Forever book where the character makes a joke about VD - as in "venereal disease" as they called it back in the 70s 😂
Anyway.....I asked my husband to pick something up from the supermarket yesterday on his way home from work and he bought me a Lego set as a surprise.

My daughter got divorced last year.... long story... but she kicked him out... and he will probably be going to jail... and she's very happy and content.
I sent her this today.🤣

Got freesias and card with my coffee this morning (get coffee in bed almost every day).
The really touching thing was the words written in the card though.
Gave him a card with a meaningful picture.
Married 20 years, together very much longer.

Love this! DD has been there, it's tough but having a loving family will see your DD through.

Just got a nice card, but we are soppy all year round ;-) Married many years and still very happy.

Erm, I think pancake day has been and gone? 🤔

No, just been corrected by DS, is in March this year, it moves around. 😀

OnlyYellowRoses · 14/02/2025 13:52

@ShushImTalking it's not til March 4th this year

Heelworkhero · 14/02/2025 13:52

Not seen my DH yet today, but I know I’ll get flowers and chocs later.
He’s offered to cook a nice meal this evening, but I’m out with friends.

This week he’s been using my car as we’re waiting for the garage to fix the window that’s stuck permanently halfway down.
It’s been cold and rainy all week and his commute is 46 minutes - 1 hour each way.

He’s not perfect, but he’s a good, kind man and treats me very well.

ThePoshUns · 14/02/2025 13:53

Antibiotics will sort that out for you

NinnyNa · 14/02/2025 13:53

I got a card, chocolate, a 3 in 1 lego set and slippers :)

Together 25 years

PrioritisePleasure24 · 14/02/2025 13:54
