Neighbour keeps sending parcels to our address

They are annoying neighbours to say the least.. very subtle, but annoying.. how to stop Royal Mail delivering to us.. this happened before - they put our house number down on their packages until I contacted the company.. I don't wish to speak with them..

I could send back in post? Return to sender?

I would stop taking the parcels round. Then when they come to collect, don't answer the door - occasionally. You might be in but could be doing any number of things that prevent you answering the door. 😆
I imagine they would soon get fed up.

mommybear1 · 13/02/2025 11:39

We spoke to our Postie and said no more parcels for No XX as they seem to be friends with him perhaps but a note on your postbox saying you will not accept parcels for any other property?

Bettyfromlondon · 13/02/2025 11:49

Is the box lockable so it is only open when you are actually expecting something?

Chuchoter · 13/02/2025 12:02

When you receive the next parcel, print off some stickers that say any of the following -

XXXXL DILDO ENCLOSED

XXXXL BUTT PLUG

STD HOME TESTING KIT

ASSORTED DELUXE ANAL BEADS

LATEX FIST FOR FISTING XXXL

13 INCH REALISTIC VIBRATING PENIS LARGE GIRTH

Place sticker on parcel near the name and address and take a photo and upload to your local Facebook group and write - 'Parcel for Johnny and Doreen has been wrongly delivered to my house. I called round earlier but they were out and I don't have their number/lost their number, please can you let them know it's here if you know them. Thank you.'

Deny ever putting the sticker on it.

BCSurvivor · 13/02/2025 12:19

I would log it with the police as potential mail fraud.

BlueisBeautiful · 13/02/2025 12:23

Tell them thank you for the lovely unexpected and regular gifts!

BobbyBiscuits · 13/02/2025 12:27

If they are doing it on purpose to harass you, what are the parcels? You don't need to hand them over if you don't want to.
What a strange thing for them to do...

Lurkingandlearning · 13/02/2025 12:28

I would always take parcels in, more to help the delivery person than the neighbour. But I got fed up with them leaving their parcels cluttering my hall when I could actually hear they were at home and just couldn’t be bothered to get their stuff out of my house.

I now apologise to the delivery person and tell them I’ve been asked not to take parcels in. True, a friend told me to stop complaining because I’d chosen to take them in.

Neighbour has an outside cupboard where parcels can be left and there are loads of collection options

purplecorkheart · 13/02/2025 12:29

I would not be overly worried about the postperson being friendly with them, in fact I would use it to my advantage.

Try and meet the postperson and say something Like Sam, just to let you know we will not be accepting packages for Rosie and Jim anymore, we never gave consent for them to use our address. I know they are your friends so I just said I would give you the heads up so you know rather than reporting it to the Royal Mail complaints department. I don't want you to get in trouble over this.

Bubblegumtatoos · 13/02/2025 12:30

Return to sender. They could be doing something very dodgy.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 13/02/2025 12:37

Hey Op, have you checked your credit report recently? Wondering if their dodgy use of your address for parcels might extend to other uses.

MrsSkylerWhite · 13/02/2025 12:40

Open them. I would sure as hell want to know what was being delivered to my house.

😂😂😂

ButterCrackers · 13/02/2025 12:48

This is dodgy. Check it out as others have said. Open up the parcels. Return to sender as the person doesn’t live at your house. Tell the neighbours that anything in the post with their name on delivered to your house will be opened and returned from today forward.

tinytemper66 · 13/02/2025 12:48

Leave them outside and if they go missing then it is their fault. I'd ignore the delivery of them and say I don't notice.

cheezncrackers · 13/02/2025 12:51

I would put a notice on the door 'DO NOT deliver parcels for Mr and Mrs Cheekyfucker. They do NOT live here. They live at No. 27'. And from now on I'd refuse delivery or return to sender anything that arrives.

RatedDoingMagic · 13/02/2025 12:59

Return everything to sender.

We had CF neighbours who nominated us as their 'safe place' without asking, so now we reject all deliveries for anyone other than us. A courier cannot force you to accept a parcel that isn't for you. Put a note on the door saying "deliveries for Xxxxx (surname) have been incorrectly addressed. No one of that name lives here, do not leave their items here"

Terrribletwos · 13/02/2025 13:02

After a few occasions of this I would definitely be opening them as it sounds like they are using your address for nefarious purposes.

mondaytosunday · 13/02/2025 13:26

If it's a village then can you go to the distribution centre and say that you keep getting post for Mr & Mrs X but you no longer will accept responsibility for them? Surely the postie knows where they live - if you see him/her just tell them 'hey please deliver their post to their house'.
I certainly wouldn't take it around. Just let it accumulate and leave up to them to come ask for it.

foreverbasil · 13/02/2025 13:33

Channellingsophistication · 13/02/2025 09:37

They are actually addressing the parcels to your address? I would be a bit worried about what’s in them and why they are using your address rather than their own?.

This....has no one else watched the Kneecap film?

2JFDIYOLO · 13/02/2025 13:43

So weird.

Keeping the stuff and denying all knowledge might be tempting - but is theft. And the delivery driver will have a photo of anything they've dumped on the step, as evidence.

I'm with everyone saying put a notice on the door!

'We do not accept parcels addressed to (name).

They do not live here.

Deliver their parcels to number X.

Parcels left unattended on the doorstep have previously been stolen.'

Maybe time for a solicitor's letter telling them to cease and desist!

Aussiegold · 13/02/2025 13:44

Are you sure there is nothing illegal in the parcels, only that's what the Southport killer was doing, getting his knives etc delivered to a neighbour so they weren't flagged as going to his address.

trumpetdown · 13/02/2025 16:07

Clothes and odd bits I think

OP posts:
category12 · 13/02/2025 16:30

If they know the postie and he knows them, surely you just say to him "I'm not accepting parcels for them anymore, you know their address, please either treat them as refused or drop them to the correct people"?

I'd put a note on your box as well saying "[names] not known at this address".

WhereYouLeftIt · 13/02/2025 16:37

Why are you accepting these parcels? Why are you not stating to the postman when he delivers them that they are not yours and you are not accepting delivery of them?
