Do you always get the blaim?

My Dh blaims me for everything and comes out with really stupid comments to 'support' his beliefs.
He once slipped when using his knife whilst eating his meal and splashed gravy over various parts of the furniture and carpet - His reasoning for this was because the gravy I'd made was too slippery. Yeah right! Another comment was when his computer crashed and when he touched it, he got a static shock - his reasoning was that it was my fault I made his computer crash as I am absoulutely 'loaded' with electricty, that is why it crashed and that is why he got a shock.(bearing in mind I hadn't been near the blooming thing, as I have my own) Over the years I have learnt that it's always my fault and have a good laugh at some of these outragous accusations. Anyone else in he same boat and similar tales to tell?

Furball, How old is your d.h.? My 5 years old d.d comes out with similar 'arguments'! Lots of sympathy and good luck. You must be very pateint not to have drowned him in the bloody gravy or thrown the computer out of the window. In all seriousness, though, is this not just a symptom of other problems in your marriage? It sounds like he is trying to pick any argument for the sake of it? Has he always been like this or has his behaviour become more unreasonable recently?

hi furball, i'm guessing from the fact that you have posted about this that your sense of humour re these comments is wearing thin...

not sure what to suggest. sounds to me like he is projecting something - insecurity, stress...

very obvious suggestion, but have you sat him down for the sounds-so-much-easier-than-it-is non confrontational discussion?

sorry i do not have more concrete advice to post, but just wanted to let you know that i don't really think comments like this are on...

"loaded with electricity" - sounds like he thinks you have superhuman mutant powers or something! hmmm...

Oops, sorry guys. I meant these things to be funny. It is only when things go wrong by accident that he can't actually own up and say 'yep, that was me'. (Which fortunately doesn't happen to often). I have now learnt than rather than take offence at these comments, to just absorb them, to laugh at them with/at him later.

I just thought I'd see if any others did similar -obviously not.

Furball you are not alone and I really laughed reading your gravy incident. Yes, everything is always my fault in my house, or actually wherever we are if some mishap occurs. It really makes me and dh laugh, instinctively he likes to blame me, he just can't help it. But since I pointed out to him (a few years ago) that he likes to target me, he also does find it funny. I think its a bloke thing and possibly an immature bloke thing? Anyway, thanks for making me laugh!

Furball my dh is a bit like that too. If I knock over a cup he has left on the floor it is my fault . If HE knocks over a cup I have left on the floor it's STILL my fault for leaving it there.
If he accidentally hurts me by bumping in to me or standing on my foot and I point it out he gets annoyed at me for mentioning something which was AN ACCIDENT (even if I am writhing in pain...)

Wow well remembered . YES ! The sore one! Actually both are sore. I sometimes wonder if he does it on purpose. Paranoid? Me?
