How long before your dc sees partner in bed with you

My exh and I split up last year and were sleeping in seperate beds for a year previous to that so my ds (nealy 4) has never seen me in bed with anyone else. I've been with my partner for three months now and I was wondering when would be a good time for my ds to see us sharing the same bed - I've not let him yet as wanted to be certain the new ish man was going to stick around but it has meant getting up at the first sound of him stirring and preventing him going into my bedroom whilst my partner is in the bed. We're bith fully committed to being together and he has a son of the same age so is completely understanding of the situation. Any advice?

I was on my own from being 7mths pg untill 6mths ago (ds is 3yrs) ds had never been a brilent sleeper and as such i had always left both mine and his bedroom door open so i could go quickly and easyly in the night and he knew he could come in to my room and have a hug in the morrning.

After a few weeks i started to put him to bed when dp was here but he didnt stay the night, after 3mths i told ds that dp was going to stay and everything would be o.k and for him to call for me if he needed me. He was fine with this i went on to push both doors shut to so i had some per warning of when ds was coming in, the first time i got an "ooh! dp is there" and i just said yes he is but i love you lots and gave him a hug. Since then he has been fine and even knocks if my door is shut along with coming in and giving dp a hug not me!

I tried talking to ds this evening and he said I only want me and mummy here, geting the feeling this may not be a smooth transition
