Best friend had a massive go at me

I've known my best friend for 20 years! She knows how hard I've gone through relationship between my husband he's been very mean to me in the past she's been there for me! I'm going through a divorce as he's said though councling he doesn't love me or want a relationship with me!

She asked how I was after I asked how she was recently she hadn't replied for an hour usually she replies so I sent a message saying is she there!? I said how I was struggling with the divorce that's it! I didn't go on I said it briefly she then wrote me loads of text messages.she said I didn't have the right to ask if she was there she said I have to start helping myself I was helping myself I was seeing a therapist and speaking on the phone to helplines and to my Dr I told her this she had a massive go at me and said she wasn't a councilor I didn't say she was she really upset me with this. She's my best friend I wasnt overly talking to her but I thought it was okay to be honest when she asked how I was as she is with me when she's struggling.

He's threatening to chuck me out the house I told her this I told my mum, she's been though a divorce so she knows how hard it was I said I was struggling with it she understood. She finally agreed to come to see me we had a nice time then she was so nice because she's my mum I thought it would be okay to be honest and say I felt like crying over the divorce she made me feel bad for this. I had once gone over to hers after a massive fight with dh and she said never do this to her gain if I do get a taxi to her s she will post me straight back she said she was there to listen. before I was at her house I was very distressed as I was making a noice out of distress I told my husband sorry I didn't mean to it was 11 am he coldly told me I woke him up I said sorry I said I didn't mean to I was distressed which point he said cruelly me me me when I was explaining I told her this we were at her house I said he was mean and said this she then said your just moaning she said she was there to listen before this wasn't listening she was mean. This upset me a lot. Another friend had off loaded all the time to me but as soon as I was crying to her on the phone said said not to off load to a friend not to cry to a friend she blocked me. I had another friend who I got on well with but the one time I needed her I was crying as he was being mean to me she sad I could talk to her she told all of what I said to our friend I said to her my husband was being abusive. She said she found it hard me crying but she offered for me to talk about it and to stay there. This other friend told him who said he didn't love me anymore because I told this friend he was being abusive. My mum knows and admitted he's abusive she refuses to have me back. I told her he once told me to kill myself and she still won't have me back. She knows he can be horrible to me she said she was there for me then she says when I'm wound up I'm hard work but I'm not trying to be hard work she's my mum I've tried so much to get on with her and talk about good things mainly. This friend accused me of trauma dumping when I was crying he said he wanted a divorce I told her how traumatic being sectioned was she was there she should have understood she said I ruiened her parents dinner as I brielty said to her parents I was going through marriage problems I briefly said it once. I feel let down by everyone I only confineded as I thought it was okay. His family don't like me as he's of loaded to them about me.

If your husband is abusive then you need to leave. Have you been in contact with a domestic abuse organisation? If not then perhaps phone one tomorrow to discuss what's going on.

You are obviously leaning on your friends quite heavily. If you're not coping then visit the GP and get therapy. You can also phone the Samaritans; they're there 24/7 to talk.

Ivehearditbothways · 07/10/2024 01:05

Is this the style of writing you send to your friend? And is it similar to the way you speak to your mum and your friend (are they different people?)?

Hippychickbbbb · 07/10/2024 01:07

I'm not leaning on people heavily though that's my point I was seeing a therapist I couldn't afford it last couple of weeks I phone the Samaritans

I need support not judgement

But is your post an example of your style of writing when you message your friend?

Opentooffers · 07/10/2024 01:16

There seems to be a pattern in your post. People all around you telling you that your offloading is too much for them. Your post is a bit hard to read as it jumps from one situation to another without a breath.
How long were you putting up with his abuse before he did you a favour and ended it? The episodes of telling your friends and your mother may have seemed short to you, but if you've complained about the same problems for a number of years, then that will be why their pacence is low.
Counselling would be great for you as you can offload there as much as you like.

Opentooffers · 07/10/2024 01:23

Also at your friends dinner with her parents you announced that you are having marital problems. That wasn't a situation to be bringing it up. What can they do about that info at a dinner? It is likely that the atmosphere would be brought down by that, which is why your friend said you'd ruined dinner.

The OP is clearly struggling and instead of just thinking ‘I can’t be bothered to read that’ You feel the need to comment with that?! Think before you type next time. You’ve come across as nasty.

CherryColaZero · 07/10/2024 01:55

I’m so sorry things are so tough at the minute OP. It sounds like all you want is someone to be there for you like you have for others and no one is stepping up 😞

Keep going with the therapy, and contact the doctor to see if there’s anything else they can offer to help.

It’s awful to feel lonely and trapped. I hope things start to get better for you xx

Alwaystired2023 · 07/10/2024 01:58

I'm sorry OP that sounds so so tough. Hopefully your mum and friends are just trying to say that they want you to be accessing the best support and it sounds like you are doing that as much as possible. Unfortunately they are struggling with supporting you at the moment but you can keep going and get away from your abusive partner.

Am rooting for you

Peakyblinder18 · 07/10/2024 02:03

@Hippychickbbbb she already knows right? I doubt she has time to listen to every detail regularly. It's exhausting.

Give your mate a break.

Wow are you available for most MN posts please?

rubeexcube · 07/10/2024 02:20

OP it sounds like for your friend this is the straw that broke the camel's back. I know it is hard but try to take a step back and have some perspective on what she has said without getting emotional.

I am coming at it from the other side, I have a friend who has caused my no end of anxiety over the last year through her various traumas and MH struggles. I am at the point where she has broken so many boundaries I need to step away. I lvoe her and have been there for her but I myself have my own daily struggles and she refuses to help herself. I am not saying that is you but things like trauma dumping have a massive effect on those around you and as a pp said, that is where professionals come in.

WhatInFreshHell · 07/10/2024 02:24

I really don't think you should have said "you there?" after only an hour. That would have got my back up too. Really passive aggressive and absolutely no consideration for her or her life. It suggests you expect her to be at your beck and call, or some sort of servant.

Just use ChatGPT as that poster obviously did.

ChatGPT is great haha. I often run annoying messages through it and ask it to write a response for me when I can't be bothered.
I got it to summarise a boring article the other day too. Bloody brilliant.

rubeexcube · 07/10/2024 02:35

I am so naieve, didn't think of chat GPT!

Thank you. I was summoning up the right words to say to this, this “person.”
You put it far more politely than I would have.
There’s nothing lower than kicking someone when they’re down.

3LemonsAndLime · 07/10/2024 03:21

The same poster has done it on another thread on Mumsnet, to give a response this time, not to restate the OP.

Perhaps ChatGPT is the future of writing and answering AIBU’s?

Peakyblinder18 · 07/10/2024 03:26

Please elaborate on GPT please. For the good of those that don't know and their friends 🤔

I think AI/ChatGPT was very helpful here.

There’s loads of people who hang out on AIBU just waiting to kick the op when they’re down. Genuinely one of the most pathetic and embarrassing phenomenons I’ve seen online- this is meant to be a site for adults, and you get this immature behaviour!

Peakyblinder18 · 07/10/2024 03:50

But what is this GPT thing
