setting a little test for DH

do you ever simply get so frustrated by your partners inability to see whats in front of their eyes.

wheres my keys... right where you left them, where's the nappy sacks.. exactly where they were last time.

so today, i've decided to put my DH to the test.. we've had the grandbabies visit today, i put all the guffins away because 'he's forgotten how to fold up'. this that or other.

there an un-used nappy sack, next to the hearth... its been there now since 3pm, and normally i would just pick it up and put it away, the same as i would put things on the stairs, he will step over them, i ofcourse will pick them up and carry they up.

I wonder exactly how long it will be before he moves it, cos i won't

Opinion from the Other Side:

There's no point in my looking for a tape measure/sieve/sellotape/socks/charging lead.

Why? Because DP has always decided that my carefully planned tool storage (cupboard, tool box, etc) is inadequate compared to spiriting the most used items away into the bottomless pit that is the spare room in any of the 44 separate drawers, shelves, boxes and containers he keeps in there. Along with all of the leads. Including the ones that don't work anymore.

Socks are best hidden in random items of clean bedlinen, which is then scrunched up and shoved into the back of another cupboard. See also umbrellas, for some reason.

Then think about food. No, tinned tomatoes are not in the cupboard for tins. They're hidden behind another random item of storage furniture where he's put the sieve and pan lids, rather than hanging them up on the pan shelf and hooks. Well, some of them. Pasta? Try on top of the tumble dryer.

What about bedlinen? When it's not crumpled into the cupboard, it's crumpled in a corner.

I'm not stumbling my way through his organisation. If something is not in the designated storage place where I put it, he's moved it to his chosen space and therefore is holly responsible for finding it if I cannot lay my eyes upon it in an instant.

I think that close to the play mat you need to intervene OP

Greenflamesburn · 02/07/2024 08:55

@sentfrmmyiphone
I love how close the changing mat is to the nappy sack its in grabable reach. Also where needed.
Maybe all along he was saving it for the next time and is secretly pleased it is still there😆

HowIrresponsible · 02/07/2024 08:58

If you've been with him long enough to have grand babies then he isn't suddenly going to change.

I'm not sure why a nappy sack would be on the carpet by the hearth anyway.

Because.... as you can see from my recent photo... it was left there from the last time the grandbabies were here... 😂😂

I'm hoping today will be the day he moves/or we've. Uses said nappy sack 😂

What do you hope to achieve from this?
More than likely the outcome is that he's going to leave it there and you're just going to get more and more wound up and then eventually snap over it and he's going to act like it's not a big deal and nothing will change in future anyway.
It will just stress you out.

This was my thought too.

I don't understand why you are doing it OP. The only person you're going to wind up is yourself.

Why would it be on the carpet? Unless you change shitty nappies on a carpet?! 🤮

sentfrmmyiphone · 02/07/2024 11:09

@HowIrresponsible Yes of course that's what we do!

Obviously.. the clean empty nappy sack was not cleared away from when we had the grandbabies last..

As you can see from this mornings photo there is a changing mat all ready for any nappy changes required today!

Like most UK mums, we are happy to change our babies on a mat on the floor... there is no shame in it

Be as obtuse as you like... this is very clearly a light hearted thread you've chosen to take to another level...

Awwww, don't worry, Most can see it's a bit of fun! I love ripping the piss out of my DH on here. I do love him though! You know you love 'em when you can slag 'em off! 😆

DogInATent · 02/07/2024 11:21

there an un-used nappy sack, next to the hearth

Can we just address the issue of who put it there? Unless I've missed this detail.

DappledThings · 02/07/2024 11:27

Both of us would be as bad as each other about picking that up. Might take a few days and then one of us would finally notice it.

I'm the one who can't find things either and DH will regularly point out said item that I've just been looking for and not seen in front of my nose.

The grand babies were here on Sunday ... hubby put all the guffins away when they left...

However for reasons unknown he left a single clean unused nappy sack out!!

I don't know why he left it!

In your OP you said you'd put everything away because he'd forgotten how to fold things?

Fgfgfg · 02/07/2024 11:55

Be careful OP. This way madness lies. We've never decorated our bathroom because we couldn't agree on the colour. Neither of us would give in. It's been 20 years now and we never speak of it.
If it's a biodegradable nappy sack, he may just be waiting for it to decompose naturally.

sentfrmmyiphone · 02/07/2024 13:02

@DogInATent ... oh goodness ... I meant the bouncy chair!

It's like being interrogated! I must remember when I make a thread I explain every single last detail!

Husband could not work out how to fold the bouncy chair so I did it, he did not know how to fold the baby gym so I did it... I'm so sorry I wasn't clear.... he did manage to put the changing mat away... he missed the nappy sack.

Obviously if I was responsible for the nappy sack i would have moved it!

😆 Yep, in your OP, you had 3 too many commas, one extra full stop, and 4 occasions where you should have used upper case letters.

FAIL! 😆

I've spent the last day having a stand off with the empty toilet roll tube left on the holder and the new one left on the floor. Came home from work and I thought one of the teens had put it on. No MIL did it 😠

sentfrmmyiphone · 02/07/2024 19:19

Unbelievable ... I was so hopeful that today the nappy sack would be moved.... and it wasn't!

I've now spoken to DH and pointed it out and his question was

Why didn't I move it?

It has now been moved!
