How often do you have sex?

9 year relationship, married for 3, 1 child aged 1.

How often would you say is a 'normal' amount of sex in these circumstances?

Oh and similar to the OP we have a 1 year old..
And together 13 years married for six

Once a month. But we have 2 under 2, busy jobs. Very tired. Still very much in love and attracted to each other - just don't have the time or energy for it at the moment.

Never with my husband.

Probably 3 or 4 x a week. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

Been together 18yrs. 3 kids.

Why does it matter how often other people have sex with their partner?Glad some people are open about sharing it.

Everyone has their own normal, it's contextual.

For me and my partner of 2 years it's 8-12 times per week.

With a previous partner I was with over a decade, I never felt like having sex, and was more like once a month!

We don't live together, generally see each other 3/4 times a week, and have 3 young kids between us.

Might be helpful to also add in what kind of sex. Are these 10 minute quickies. 3 hour marathons or somewhere in between.

For the first two years of our relationship , (and on previous threads asking this question), the answer was 3-4 times a day

For the next three years, it was 10-12 times a week.

This year, perimenopause hit me, and he is also starting to slow down- turning 50. I think we're probably about 5 times a week now.

On this trajectory, I'll probably hit once a month in a little while!

Why should an amount make it normal. What happened to it happens when the feeling comes and if it doesn't life will still be fine till it returns. Everyone is different and circumstances also make it different Iike before kids at it like rabbits then for a few years it slowed right down and now kids are older it's picked right back up and actually even better the more mature you get. It's never been an issue lots or little with us, it's about the love and affection when it does happen we always have

Once a week or so. I'd happily not bother to be honest, I simply can't be arsed these days and would rather sleep.

DH still has a pretty high sex drive and would probably do it every day, possibly more than once, given the chance.

We aer 30s-40s with 3 children, all older now.

How can the multiple times a week people be bothered?! Apart from brush my teeth and shower, I don't think there's much I do 3+ times a week!

Because it's fabulous! I can't imagine sitting there next to the love of my life and think I can't be arsed with you!

Because it really puts me in a good mood, relieves stress and makes me feel sexy so it's kinda chicken and egg and no I wouldn't have sex if I don't want to. It releases endorphins which is a positive. I sleep a million times better after an orgasm.

It connects us, we both prioritise it as we both spent time in relationships where it wasn't valued. This may be a weird one but I take better self care now, so not sure if that is directly or indirectly linked.

Yes typically libido often lessens but most men I know still want it more than 1-3 x a year. Did you always have a lower sex drive?

A few times a week. On a good week it's every day, a " tired" week would be 3 times. Mid/ late 30s with 4 kids.

I'd say on average, twice a week (sometimes three times, sometimes once). I definitely have the higher sex drive and would like it a little more often but it's so good when we do have it that I'm happy to go with quality over quantity! We're early 40s/late 30s with one six year old.

Not sure about ‘normal’, but it’s around once a quarter for us. Nice when it happens, but neither of us are particularly driven.
