OK, DH and child are first cousins once removed. The children are second cousins.

The removed bit shows they're different generations. 1st cousins have the same GPs, second cousins have the same GGPs and so on.

My father's cousin is my first cousin once removed. Her children are my second cousins.
My aunt's children are my first cousins. If they had children they would be my first cousin once removed. Their children and mine would be second cousins. I think.
