Migraines / Tension headaches that won't go away... help

Hi everyone, I know this post technically belongs on the 'Health' section but having browsed it, it seems Health is more concerned w/ kids' health - plus I think more women on here may have experienced what I'm experiencing, possibly for the same reasons.

OK, in a nutshell: posted last wk about probs w/ my husband. Last Easter Sunday he was violent twds me which ended up in me being pushed against a wall, banging my head and leaving me with a large hard bump. The bump has since gone down, and all last week it was tender to the touch but no headaches. I was also surprisingly calm with all the chaos and emotions. This week however I have been waking up with headaches (really bad ones - I'd call them migraines really - and they spread to all over my face - around the sinuses etc too). Paracetomol doesn't touch them. Ibuprofen helps - but only after about 2 hrs.

I've been seen by a doctor (twice) and there is no cause to think of any serious damage.

Even though I don't feel 'actively' stressed (if that makes sense?), it continues to be an emotionally-charged week. I'm now talking to my husband again and we're having lots of relationship 'talks' etc.

I just can't function properly with these headaches, I have 3 very small kids, no real help from anyone else - and don't want to spend the rest of my life on painkillers.

have a homeopath friend and sort of know an acupuncturist too.... thinking of going down this route...

...or is it all stress-related?

Any advice / tips / experience / thoughts would be gratefully received.

Thanks again Mumsnet! x

PS. There have been a couple of times this wk where I've been walking out in town and I just feel a bit faint - almost like I might black-out - although perhaps that's just b/c I'm v v tired...

???

Sorry to hear about what you've been though in the last few weeks D74 .

I'm sure its tension headaches, all that stress you've been under.
I used to suffer with them constantly (I was depressed at the time).I found normal painkillers wouldn't touch the them but I did find that co-codamol knocked them on their arse.

I think going down the natural health path maybe very helpful, anything that will relieve you of some of that stress you are carrying around would be beneficial to your physical and mental health.
You probably find that once you are feeling more relaxed the headaches will ebb away on their own.Make sure you set aside some time for you, long soak in the bath etc.

Oh,make sure you've had your eyes tested, eye strain can bring on painful headaches also

Sorry you have been having a bad time.

I would recommend drinking lots of water, it's surprisingly easy to get dehydrated which can contribute to or worsen headaches.

Another vote for trying to get sleep if you possible can, and an eyetest is very good idea.

Take care

What tests did a GP do? Is it likely you've got a fracture or compression? Seems too much of a coincidence that you've had a head injury and suffering headaches. I'd go back to the Dr TBH
