Would people posting please paragraph your posts because it's difficult to read

I don't know why but in the 'Relationships' topic in particular, quite a few posters do not paragraph their posts and I find it very difficult to read.

I wouldn't like to see people's posts go unanswered for this reason alone.

You can't win on here..the other day someone complained because people were spacing their posts.

Putting lines between paragraphs like this annoys people too, apparently.

beaniesteve · 23/03/2008 10:15

But that's different. A line after every sentence makes no sense. A paragraph makes sense when used in the correct way.

I'm with the OP. It's really difficult to read.

Shaniece · 23/03/2008 10:16

I don't mind people spacing their posts though hecate- at least it's readable.

Oh I agree! It's much better - I always do it unless I'm (emotional!) typing in a rush. Or at least I did until the thread where loads of folks complained, and then I started trying to take up less space so's not to be one of those people that annoys folks
Now what do I do? Must. Please. Everyone. [needy]

Hopeyseggwasntbig · 23/03/2008 10:21

I agree, I try and use paragraphs. Much easier to read-

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 23/03/2008 10:21

I have seen somebody re-post the OP into paragraphs before

Dee - Oh I don't think it was aimed at me personally, rather it was a moaning thread complaining about people who space a lot and why do it and blah blah and I thought oh whoopsie, that's me I'm one of those, I'd better stop it.

DeeRiguer · 23/03/2008 14:49

oh crikey ..i wish i had seen that one!
posting style is quite individual n i like that but no paragraphs is just painful

Earlybird · 23/03/2008 15:09

Completely agree. If an issue is complex, and initial post is long, I often leave the thread without reading if I see line after line of writing with no paragraph breaks. It's hard on the eyes and can be hard to follow, so I let someone else with more stamina/patience wade through and offer helpful advice.

TLV · 23/03/2008 20:19

agree too, kind of lose the gist of things when everything is all together and my eyes go funny though I'm probably guilty of doing it myself.

Scattybird · 23/03/2008 20:22

This is a bit rich really. What about someone who doesn't know when to put a paragraph in? I think that if the thread is about something important and you want to answer is, copy, paste and read it. Then respond.

Shaniece · 23/03/2008 20:25

Scattybird, some people are too lazy to paragraph though.

DeeRiguer · 23/03/2008 21:34

a bit rich, eh? steady on you blighter they can give me 'eadaches dontchaknow..

they could just do it visually, if they are unsure of grammar scared of pedantic police

as you write, same as when you talk and naturally pause, just hit return
paragraph or new line

its just a visual thang scatty..

readytoswiggin · 24/03/2008 02:57

I agree a large piece of text is hard to read, and is easier to read if it is broken up.

However, I think a lot of the times the poster is feeling quite emotional, and is struggling to get down all they are feeling. I've noticed many of the soild posts are quite emotional ones, and they are simply pouring themselves out on to the screen, and so pausing to break up the text would interrupt their flow iykwim.
