Sorry if this has been asked before!

I keep looking at these threads and cannot work out what they are!!

Could someone please fill this relative newbie in on the history?!

Thanks

We are a bunch of hairy bikers pretending to be women!!!
Not really, just a group who are having various relationship problems and have been supporting each other for the last year or so.
(Although the hairy biker idea sounds more interesting!!)

sugarpear · 18/03/2008 17:29

LOL gu!!

Wishful thinking on the hairy bikers!!

Maybe dior was right we will be made in to a book someday!

Tanee58 · 18/03/2008 17:30

Nope, we really ARE hairy bikers - just the most Fab & Glam hairy bikers in the world .

TimeForMe · 18/03/2008 17:30

I think we should rename ourselves the Teabags actually GU

TimeForMe · 18/03/2008 17:31

Well, we have inspired a "who is" thread

Baffy · 18/03/2008 17:37

PAL it all started when a few of us went through finding out about our husband's affairs at the same time. There were recurring themes in what we were going through (depression, affairs, addictions etc) and we all just seemed to really relate to each other.

At first we all had individual threads. And we'd all post on each other's threads.

It got to a point though, where there seemed to be the same 10/11 of us who were all posting on each other's threads all the time.

Think everyone else on here was sick of us

Eventually it seemd best to amalgamate it all into 1 as we all knew each other's stories so well and that way, we could all keep up with the latest news.

We've probbly 'known' each other for almost 18 months now. So I guess the threads do tend to exclude new people from joining in a way, because there is so much history there. I'd imagine none of it really makes sense if you just click on there and don't know the background!

But other perspectives and view points are always welcome!! We could bore you with the history for as long as you can stand it!!

Tanee58 · 18/03/2008 17:46

And I was a newcomer who butted in about a year ago, though not having an erring husband - I had been an erring wife - but I'd been posting on Dior's thread and we 'clicked'.

We wouldn't stop anyone new joining in, of course - - new perspectives are always welcome.

HappyWoman · 18/03/2008 18:01

It would be great if more wanted to join in.

We have just had our first meet up so there are a lot of jokes about us being men at the moment.

It is the most amazing feeling to be supported by so many caring people it makes you have faith in the human race after all.

NorthernLurker · 18/03/2008 18:06

I posted on one of these threads recently as one of the posters had a specfic issue she had mentioned on another thread, that I wanted to address. I was really impressed by the strong community they have got going there. Wonderful, wonderful women - there are plainly a lot of fuckwit idiotic men out there!

Tanee58 · 18/03/2008 18:10

Thank you, NorthernLurker - feel free to join us again .

postingatlast · 18/03/2008 18:26

I hope I do not fall into the fuckwit men category (don't answer that, Dittany!).

It sounds like these threads are to Mumsnet what Persil tabs are to Persil powder - smaller, more concentrated and beautifully formed...

thanks for the explanations, I will read these threads with a new eye!

Feel free to chip in PAL - would be good to hear a male perspective on things sometimes.
We will go easy on you

I stalk the fab and glam threads occasionally as I have a mother who was dumped by my dickhead father (npt biased at all no siree not me). I'm desparate to be an honorary member but wihtout a partner I'm doomed....

  • Dior - I feel the same about my post natal thread - and that really is daft because I was lurking there for aeons before posting!
littlewoman · 19/03/2008 09:48

NL, I am so glad you asked this question.... I always wanted to know too!

Baffy · 19/03/2008 10:05

Hello Kew!! Was soooo lovely to meet you!

You'll definitely have to come to the next meet up.

Paddlechick666 · 19/03/2008 18:29

so kew stalks me on MN and hijacks our F&G thread and now she's crashing out meets!

okay, okay, seeing as how she has some MN notoriety of her own I will drag cordially invite her to our next get together.

PAL, definately stick around. A male perspective is most welcome. Our vitriol is reserved for the various OH/DP/H/DH/exes/GW/DHH that we are all entangled with.

postingatlast · 19/03/2008 18:46

Thanks Paddlechick, I will stick around. There have been a few concerted attempts to hound me out but I am still here!! I shan't name any more names here but they know who they are!!! I only ever try to offer an honest perspective and I think once people accepted that I am not a clippety clop, things calmed down!

I had a look over at the mumsnet facebook group, would love to join it as an honorary mumsnetter but of course it would not be wise for me to show my real identity after some of the issues I have been a little toooooooo honest on around here!!! (i'd have to monitor my wall every day for malicious posts!!
