What is it with men and conspiracy theories 🙄

Online dating and it seems the only men I seem to be attracted to seem to have so many issues that come up after a few chats!

Latest one, and not uncommon by a long shot, has told me that he doesn't pay his water bill because water is free from the sky and the water companies are poisoning us (but doesn't have a distiller so drinks out of plastic bottles and that can cause cancer if all your drinks are from plastic), doesn't pay council tax, doesn't work because he's awake and it's part of the matrix, 5g is going to fuck us all up and our cows are now being injected by another Bill Gates vaccine. I asked him what he did with his day if he doesn't work and he spends his days researching on what is going wrong in the world in the fight against good and evil.. oh and the huge American pedophile rings and social workers trafficking kids. I am a bloody SW, no we don't want your kids, caseloads are overwhelmed enough as it is thanks.

I just think it's sad that his life has become this. I told him we aren't compatible as we don't believe in the same stuff. I feel bad for him and did like the look of him but these conspiracy theories are mental illness. It's almost like they are the new religion with the fevered zelous that the newly converts preach.. even when you tell them you're not interested in conspiracy theories they still bang them down your throat!

The bird thing is hilarious with the conspiracy theory within the theory!

I had a FWB. She was big on the theories come to think about it. 5G masts. 15 minute cities. Cashless societies. I listened and nodded. Lol.

TheoTheopolis23 · 30/07/2023 23:39

My former friend, who was always a bit ... quirky.. spends a lot of time online because she looks after her elderly Dad (after looking after her Mum for years, one of the reasons she hasn't couped up, had kids etc). I don't see her but last time I did I got ranted at about every conspiracy theory going for 40 mins and ended up having a big argument that ended the friendship.

I told her she seemed to have fallen down the rabbit hole, and that was one of the escalators towards the massive argument.

It's sad, but what can you do.

Was this during the shagging or did she at least have manners to keep it to before or after?

That's what she said 😂

The ones I know, don’t work.
They have fuck all else to do.
Sitting online all day looking up shite.
And then telling the rest of us.

TheoTheopolis23 · 30/07/2023 23:45

Lol.

I listened and nodded. Lol.

If anything demonstrates the pragmatism of men seeking sex ...

I think most women would be too turned off as icked out to shag a man saying things like that.

Clarabe1 · 30/07/2023 23:45

I think the uncertainty over Covid and the rise of social media platforms is a big part of it. People feel uncertain and scared and are trying to make sense of it all. The media is so corrupt and people start to look elsewhere for info and then fall down the ‘rabbit hole’ I have met men and women who have gone equally bonkers with it all.

GentlemanJay · 30/07/2023 23:48

To be fair it was on long car journeys. Lol.

crackofdoom · 30/07/2023 23:48

The last one I had started in on the global-conspiracy-masterminded-by-the- Rothschilds shtick about 4 dates in. He found out about it on YouTube. He doesn't read the mainstream media because he doesn't want to be "brainwashed" 😆

Your mistake was probably doing long car journeys with Ms. "FWB, turned out to be conspiracy theorist".

Did her craziness put you off shagging her?

Did the hot Vs crazy graph apply?

What is it with men and conspiracy theories 🙄
TheoTheopolis23 · 30/07/2023 23:56

I've only just noticed the extremely misognist "every woman is at least a 4 on crazy" small print .... That's ironic given how batshit many men are; as this op is describing.

Least I didn't waste the time of 4 dates. Poor you. I thought the Rothschild one died out years ago.

No idea. My friend was seeing one for a while. Didn't get introduced and it died out quite quickly.

The Rothschild one is an antisemitic one I think. From white supremacists in the US. Mad how they spread around so widely. I wonder how much money is involved with posting and sharing that kind of content or if it's purely from a hate pov.

If you're a SW I can't believe you entertained an unemployed conspiracy theorist for long enough to hear about his ideas... surely you must hear enough of that 9 to 5, I know I certainly do 😂

NewspaperTaxis · 31/07/2023 00:06

There might be a theory as to why men are more susceptible to this stuff, as it's been said that believing in conspiracy theories is a way of justifying a lack of success in life, of being an outsider. Arguably this matters more to men, who are often portrayed as/expected to be leaders in a group setting - whether that is correct or not., of course So this idea that there's some secret reason, some organisation keeping you from realising your best might have some power, if only the world wasn't so corrupt, one could have a decent crack at it.

Mad stuff includes thinking re-electing Donald Trump will finally expose these political paedophilic rings etc, I mean he did nothing about it in the five years he was actually President did he, what's going to make him act next time?!

That said, I personally can't discount all that stuff, it's just a question of degree. I mean Epstein Island really did have the likes of Clinton visiting, teenagers were groomed for sex, seems like the old 'I'm not seeing a prostitute I'm just hanging out with a good time gal' excuse used in the Profumo Affair, less chance of being blackmailed arguably. The British State does have some nasty dirty secrets, it seems to thrive on them frankly though again, just how interested a person ought to be in this stuff is another thing.

It doesn't seem date material chat though the problem is it can take over so that's all the person has to talk about.

I'm afraid I never met a social worker I could trust - but that was in Adult Social Care in Surrey. I mean, we did trust them, but it turned out we were being betrayed. Impossible to get the story into the local or national press despite all the evidence. Care home scandals yes, social services scandals, forget it. They won't touch it.

I'm fun on dates too.

I didn't realise he was unemployed, his profile picture was in an office wearing work clothes 😂 I asked him what he did over WhatsApp and had a 10 minute voice note back about why he doesn't work, the matrix, common law, his unpaid water bill, water companies poisoning us, trafficking rings and council tax and a ramble about how girls keep unmatching him when they find out he doesn't drive but promised me he had a lot to offer. I did reply that I'm sorry but don't think we're compatible and he sent me another one about how I'm wrong and everything he said is the truth 😂

We were having a nice conversation on tinder about music, festivals, food and history before we moved to WhatsApp 😱

I’ve not read that book so not sure what it’s actually about…. But I thought it’s a pretty common understanding that the government weaponised fear during the pandemic? They didn’t “use covid to make the public scared”, they made the public as scared as possible to ensure we complied with their guidelines. They needed to scare the shit out of us. So not a case of “creating a pandemic” but choosing their words and messages very carefully to terrify us into submission, to manage the pandemic. I don’t see how that’s a conspiracy theory?

Good God. So you're saying that "the government" (actually a whole set of different governments) knew exactly what the actual risks of Covid where while it was happening. They endeliberately chose to inflate them in order to make the public comply with guidelines.

Please enlighten us what on earth the point of that would have been? If the gov't deliberately exaggerated it already knew Covid was less harmful - so what on earth was the purpose of the bloody guidelines in the first places given in this scenario they KNEW they were superfluous? Keeping in mind the assorted negative consequences, not least economic damage, but hat were inevitably going to damage whichever administration implemented the measures?!

Given that we are all people first, there are varying personality types, just like in any role. I work in children where people sometimes prefer to shout conspiracy, trafficker, forced adoption rather than look at the reality of their situation

There was definitely abuse of girls by rich old white men in thise circles. The issue for me is that it gets mixed up in a fake panic by men like Donald Trump who are also sex offenders and were in those circles. Also, children are trafficked from countries in the Middle East and Africa more so than America. Most children that go missing in first world countries are from custody disputes and with the parent they aren't allowed to see, or teenagers that are groomed to run away and are sexually abused, or in America more so are groomed into selling drugs. They don't have county lines as such, men use teenage girls to do their drug selling. It's not the pretty blonde 5 year olds that the likes of Donald Trump would have you believe to get smoke away from himself.
