How long did you wait for a refuge place through Women's Aid? I was put on the list before Christmas and still nothing has come up. Starting to despair.

It can be a few days - depending on which area has space. You could be moved to the other end of the country. Another factor is if you have complex needs such as drug or alcohol addictions. Lots of refuges won't take women with complex needs.
Most refuges will take children.
Please get back to Womens Aid or
google domestic abuse agencies in your area. They can find a placement for you.

Good luck.

A fortnight. I went to one hundreds of miles away. Stayed for six months. Met some amazingly strong women there, including my best friend.
I’d advise you to contact them again for update, and speak to the Housing Officer at your council as they can do a referral to other domestic abuse agencies/refuges. (In my case, WA and Council kissed together and found the refuge but it was run by a local charity that anyone not in that area wouldn’t have heard from.) Good luck.
