Should I report neighbours

Hopefully I’m in the right place to get advice but my neighbours obviously have a hoarding issue also it’s a 4 bedroom house and there’s only 3 adults living there should I report them the house is housing association

And what’s your business OP?! I’m sure you have other things in your life to bother about than your neighbor and their living condition. Have you cleaned out your fridge, freezer… have you washed your winter clothes and put them away ready for the next season?! Is your car MOT due?! Mind your own business and stop being a busy body! 🙄

I can believe it @Bringonthesunforthewashing.

My neighbour is exactly like this. I am genuinely wondering whether this is the same person as I can't quite believe there are 2 people like this in the world. If it is her she has fudged some details as I'm not elderly nor do I have a son or a husband but we are technically under-occupied by one bedroom.

My neighbour has already reported my garden for being "an eyesore" but the HA came out and checked it and closed the case. She then reported me for attracting rats. The pest controller the HA sent round confirmed there were no rats living in my garden but set some traps as the gardens adjoining mine have decking. Nothing has been trapped up to now.

It genuinely wouldn't surprise me if she reported me for hoarding next. The pile I referred to in my previous post is in the pathway at the side of my house that she cannot see. I've deliberately put it there so she cannot see it but she spotted it a couple of days ago when she was stood at the end of my front garden staring at me while I had the side gate open.

oh my word. I really feel for you, life can be difficult enough without putting up with a neighbour like that!!!!

I would have a word with Housing as the fire risk concerns me. Possibly the Fire Brigade can get a clean up operation moving when they file their report detailing the problems.

You have way too much time on your hands.

This is a very strange post. The housing association is very unlikely to do anything about under-occupation especially as they may not have another property to re-house them.

This. It’s not as simple as the OP thinks. My parents live in a 3 bedroom by themselves and the housing association are fully aware. They like to have a mix of families on the street (some with young children, some couples etc) and while my parents are looking at downsizing as they get older there’s no pressure from the housing association.

@Littlroo were you planning that when your kids grow up will you give up your 3 bed for a family and move into a 1 bed flat?

Yes that’s one side and the other side is a single male

my advice? get a life and get a hobby.

Hoarding is classed as an illness and as much as it upsets you to look at all crap, speak to your neighbour first and ask if they can tidy it up before you go reporting them to the council

You do realise this is 6 months old.

And

But it's their home!

ChateauDuMont · 08/12/2023 21:18

If they were being noisy I can understand your being upset but as it's purely a visual problem of the messy garden then it has nothing to do with you.
