Hopefully I’m in the right place to get advice but my neighbours obviously have a hoarding issue also it’s a 4 bedroom house and there’s only 3 adults living there should I report them the house is housing association

IS there a rat problem or are you just hoping there is?

It's pretty easy to buy a box of poison blocks.

FabulouslyFab · 28/06/2023 16:10

Humidititties · 28/06/2023 13:50

It's none of your business how many people live there, and if the hoarding isn't affecting you then that's none of your business either

Exactly this!

vodkaredbullgirl · 28/06/2023 16:13

Why is this even in the relationship board?

Krickley · 28/06/2023 16:13

Id keep your nose out tbh

Mylifeislikeaboatrace · 28/06/2023 16:15

Slightly off thread butI bloody love MN so many weird and wonderful threads. As for some posters, not necessarily OP, how do they manage to get through the day?
Some say they are highly skilled, letters after the name, high wages but still have to ask stupid stuff on MN like aibu to have a glass of water when I'm thirsty? 😄
Okay Vipers, as you were...

Littlroo · 28/06/2023 16:16

Lol I already ended this by saying thanks all for advice and I’m happy with my house and not overcrowded at all as it’s a large 3 bed for two adults and 3 children. Not going to comment any more on this but yes I’ve seen a rat and reported it to council a while ago so will report again regarding the hoarding .
also when my children move out if the housing provide me with a one bed place I’ll happily move out.
have a great day all

Ohhhhhh, please don't report them. So sad to think of people getting removed from their home.

Why would you even think this was a thing to do. Reporting people!!!?

How do you even know it's a 4 bed and housing association and only 3 people live there?

Let them be and keep your nose out.

EpicChaos · 28/06/2023 16:18

@Littlroo " No I wasn’t being mean "

Yes you were! That's precisely how you are being!
There is only one anti-social person living on that block and guess what, it's YOU!
Those neighbours would do well to report you to your HA for your nasty attitude towards them.
What a nasty, jealous person you seem to be! MYOB!

Frequency · 28/06/2023 16:20

They won't get removed. I get reported to the HA on an almost monthly basis and have done since I moved in 6 years ago. They usually send out a letter and then close the case. Occasionally I get a visit and then they close the case.

Mylifeislikeaboatrace · 28/06/2023 16:20

If OP is happy with her house why mention her own situation with 5 people and 3 beds? This didn't go to plan I think. Just as well it wasn't in aibu, she would have been slaughtered.

azlazee1 · 28/06/2023 16:23

You should spend more time in your own house, and not looking into other peoples. What do you gain by reporting people? Seems very mean spirited to me.

Umm because people asked multiple times

Imagine if we all phoned the council every time we saw a rat.

Frequency · 28/06/2023 16:27

I got reported for rats a few weeks ago. I'm not sure if the neighbor actually saw a rat or just hoped there was rats but the pest controller confirmed there were no rats living in my garden. His ratting dog was just as interested in getting into my other neighbour's garden as mine is so he thinks there might be rats under their decking so left traps in my garden just in case they are coming into my garden on a night.

He did, however, say if the garden on that side had rats under the decking then the garden on the other side almost certainly does too (that's the neighbour who complains constantly) 😂

I've not heard a peep from the council or the HA about rats other than the very friendly pest controller who visited and I enjoyed his visit. He was a lovely man who gave me loads of useful gardening tips and he brought a dog with him. Dogs are always welcome in my garden.

TheAnnaPhilAxis · 28/06/2023 16:28

I bet you reported people during lockdown.

PollyAmour · 28/06/2023 16:32

I bet you were the kid in class who always had her hand up, shouting 'Miss! Miss! He did it! She did it!'

Now you're all grown up and still a tattle-tale.

INeedAnotherName · 28/06/2023 16:32

it’s two spare rooms they have not just one.
mine is maximum occupied 5 people in a 3 bed

And there we have it. You might say you like your house but you want theirs really.

DixonD · 28/06/2023 16:34

Littlroo · 28/06/2023 14:09

I won’t report them if you don’t think I should I just was getting concerned about it and wanted advice

You’re not concerned; you just went the 4 bed house.

DixonD · 28/06/2023 16:34

*want

jannier · 28/06/2023 16:34

Littlroo · 28/06/2023 13:49

Both, the hoading is also in the garden and there’s lots of families needing a 4 bed when this is a elderly couple and adult son, obviously at one point the other children lived there but there all grown up and moved away now

So you would uproot elderly people forcing them away from any support and everything they know?

WhatInFreshHell · 28/06/2023 16:35

Wind your neck in and stop being nasty!

The spirit of Mrs Mangel lives on.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Mylifeislikeaboatrace · 28/06/2023 16:46

I knew OP would come back out of curiosity.

PonkyPonky · 28/06/2023 16:48

I live next to hoarders, it’s not great. I have to pay a pest control man to take care of the rats. I worry about fire safety with us being joined. But that is how they’re choosing to live and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. None of your business how many people live there though

mumofteenss · 28/06/2023 16:52

housing associations that are in place of old council housing are often secure, life time tenancies. You cant report for under occupancy. They are allowed to stay there for life. Benefits if claiming are adjusted if they have unused bedrooms, but if they pay the rent without claiming housing, theres no adjustments.

I live in a 3 bed LA house, with my 3 teens, 1 who will most likely never move out, i pay rent myself, i get a little bit of UC which will stop next year entirely, i have a secure tenancy, i have zero intention of giving up my home. I paid for all the carpets and flooring, window dressings, all the decorating as it was an absolute state when i got it, i paid and put time into the outside to make it nice. Its not like private where you get most of these things, i have put money into making it a home for us. I will never be in a position to buy unless i win the lottery, which is unlikely given i dont play it. Im not giving up my home until i have to.
