With flirting, is there a difference between calling someone "darling" or "my darling"?

A guy I'm speaking with used to always say "see you later darling/love" etc but today has said "see you later my darling" and the change feels significant but I'm not sure if I'm overthinking it.

No I think the two are interchangeable. You are obviously keen as you’re in the forensic analysis stage of what they do and say!

Whenwillitallmakesense · 19/06/2023 23:53

In what way does it feel significant to you?

How long have you been talking? Have you not met him IRL yet?

LemonLymanDotCom · 19/06/2023 23:53

Yeah. You’re overthinking it

CinnabarRed · 19/06/2023 23:54

Totally overthinking.

I'd have got the ick the first time he called me darling/love, whether there was a my in front of it or not, especially if we'd not been chatting long and never met.

Remember that he probably calls all women love/darling. How long have you been speaking? Have you met in person?

I call the children in my class 'my love' or 'my darling'...never 'love' or 'darling' though thinking about it 🤔
