I am finding MIL increasingly difficult to deal with as her behaviour becomes ever more extreme, selfish and nasty. Most of this is aimed at DP and just general world negativity but I'm finding it harder and harder to deal with and due to trauma in my own past with my own dad (aware this is my issue alone) am finding myself getting very triggered by her tone and behaviour.
We are getting married in two weeks and things have really escalated in the run up. Today she called DP to rant about the fact that she can't afford Botox for the wedding and that the hotel can't guarantee her a parking spot. All of this is of course our fault and she can't believe we would be so stupid as to choose the hotel and so tight as to not offer to pay for her Botox. She is the worlds most negative woman and it's honestly making me dread the wedding.
I'm just wondering whether after the wedding it would be possible to go NC. DP is teetering on doing this herself but isn't quite prepared to cut her off entirely (though she supports my decision.) She doesn't have any contact with her dad so understand her reluctance.
Apologies for wittering on- I just wondered if anyone had any experience of this... how would it work for example at Christmas?
