Domestic Abuse Leaving - what's happens with school?

I'm waiting on a call from a domestic abuse company that helps me to sort everything out, shelter, finances, etc, but I'm wondering does anyone know what happens when they offer you shelter, do they put you local still to your child's school or somewhere further afield? Asking as I don't drive, and we can currently walk. Part of the reason I have stayed and endured for so long is for fear of disrupted children.

I've experienced domestic abuse but didn't have to leave my home so I'm not sure but I just wanted to say well done for making this step. X

If you are moving out of area to a refuge you will need to put new school applications in for that area.
Most refuges will only accept women coming from out of area, cutting ties to existing schools, clubs etc, as the idea is you are being relocated for your safety - you can't then give your ex easy ways to find you and put you or other residents at risk.

Good luck OP 💐💐

To add - the disruption of being in refuge, changing schools etc will be far far less that living around the abuse for more of their childhoods.
It feels frightening now, but long term they will be so thankful you took these steps
