Husband yelling and now in a mood

HopeG · 05/06/2023 17:17

Husband just started yelling at me and now being really moody because I bought a £575 tent on our credit card (for the consumer protection) as it’s in the sale (ends tonight) and hubby giving no real reason for the dislike of the tent and wanting £900 plus tents when we will use it just once a year. I explained I had checked the returns policy and we can return to Asda if he finds a tent that’s better.

It follows a post I did earlier today 👇

Is he right to be angry? Should I put up with it?

Tents - how to come to an agreement | Mumsnet

My husband has been out every night and lots of the weekend volunteering for a big project. Meanwhile I had been researching tents for 5 nights away...

Angry or not he shouldn't be yelling at you.

Does he yell a lot?

When angry or ‘frustrated’ he does.

Not really a great way to communicate but spending that much money on a joint card without a discussion would annoy me. I wouldn't shout and sulk tho.

BlastedPimples · 05/06/2023 18:37

So how often does he shout then?

It only gets worse. Never better.

I mean you can return the tent so it's not even a big deal.

Is he one of those that really indulges himself and enjoys the shouting?

Do you want to be with a man who shouts like this?

GoodChat · 05/06/2023 18:41

He shouldn't be shouting but that's a huge purchase to make from a joint account without you both agreeing.

Often it’s when I disagree with him on something.

If he’s like this over a tent what would he be like over something really serious, potentially life changing —- losing his or your job, losing your home, one of you having a serious illness? If you can’t pull together on the simple things, would you be able to pull together on something bigger?

JorisBonson · 05/06/2023 21:12

You've got another post running now because you want to divorce him?

Hearti · 05/06/2023 21:13

Forget the tent, his behaviour is awful

Thomasina79 · 05/06/2023 21:16

Whilst I think he should not be shouting like this I would agree that this is a huge amount to put on a joint credit card without a discussion first, especially on something as trivial as a tent. I would be cross too, but I wouldn’t be shouting. The tent would go back though, but then I hate camping!
