Spam texts

Posting because a few weeks ago there had been a generic text found on someone's DPs phone that caused concern.

I got a spam text today that said:

Was amazing meeting you at the Eurovision party last night. Hope you got home ok in the end. My head hurts.

So as I didnt go to a eurovision party, I thought I'd post incase anyone else got it and it causes rows or concerns lol.

I got a spam text yesterday too funnily enough, mine said
Hi mum this is my new number please can you text this other number 07....., my battery is dead.

Now my kids are little but this could be very believable for parents of older children. My friends dad nearly send one of these texts money thinking it was his daughter in trouble!
My phone detects it as spam tho

That's not likely to be spam. Just a wrong number.

Someone probably got tapped onto by someone they didn't like but felt pressured to give their number
I did this at the bus stop a few weeks ago
Felt a bit threatened and just gave him a number a digit out
So apologies to whoever got that text!

No its defo some kind of scam, when I replied wrong number they tried to start up a conversation to find out my name and where I was from.

Thats such a common one, i m slightly disappoInted that I seem to be one of the few people who hasnt had it 😀

@BakerLea that text you got is a well-known one. It's designed to get to people with DC who get taken in by their child being in difficulty and falling for them asking for money....it's quite convincing!
