How long do you give a group a go before you decide to give up on it?

They say if you join groups where you meet people with similar interests and hobbies you are more likely to click etc. However I haven't found that the case.

I honestly thought I'd of made a couple of friends via a walking group but it seems so cliquey.

I'm someone who loves their own company but often feel more lonely in group environments.

Does anyone else feel this?

I relate a lot. I have joined numerous different things never really with the expectation of making friends and have enjoyed the activity but have found it hard to get to know people past acquaintances. I'm friendly, though a little shy and am also neurodiverse which I think can kinda put people off at times. Sorry you have also dealt with cliques in groups x
