What do you look for in a relationship?

What are the most important things you look for in a person / relationship?

Well, that's going to be slightly different for everyone, surely? I guess there are the fundamentals, such as attraction, trust, similar humour, kindness, ethics and morals, solvency perhaps. But then, there are deeper connections to look for, intelligence perhaps, sense of adventure maybe, drinking/smoking, family values, etc etc..there's no one box fits all.

Connection on emotional, intellectual and physical level. The rest is a bonus.

It’s more a list of what I won’t tolerate in a partner.
That list is long, very long.

What are the most important things you look for in a relationship, OP?

Of course… I’m just opening up the question as I’m interested and curious in what people look for :)

Loyal, protective, adores me and has lots of money ideally from his own hard graft and excellent work ethics.

For me, at this time in my life, I think it would be security (emotionally, physically and financially), good sense of humour, kindness and generosity, someone with ambition and good values.

Oh and treats me really well / loves me!

Kindness, work ethic, humour, loyalty.

Honest, trustworthy. Protective, strong work ethic, generous, hygienic, supportive. Humerous, outgoing, not clingy.

A “good quality” bloke who shares my values and ethics.

Our values and sense of humour have to be aligned, I don't think it is possible to get on with someone long term if we disagree on things that are important to us or if we don't find the same things funny.

Also, something that I have learned with age: how good sex is / how attracted I am to this person.

For me these are fundamental that impact everything else in the relationship
