Tonight I deleted all my profiles on date apps and deleted them all

After 3 disastrous years on them , a trail of devastation culminating in me having to report the last "fling " to the police I've had enough!

So I'm throwing myself into my night classes on ceramics

Seeing friends and family

And I'm going back to burlesque dancing . Knackered knees or not .

I will now sleep with my dogs on the bed guilt free , watch what I want , eat what I wAnt , drink what I want and bloody we'll do what I want and all without judgement, guilt or having to explain myself to anyone !

Getting rid of those apps and the pressure to be a couple or have a relationship or even just have sex - is bloody liberating and I'm relieved.

Amen .

Congratulations! Enjoy those classes and precious time with your family and friends. Maybe the right one may come along when you least expect it but if not, you're still capable of having a brilliantly fulfilling life bring single 💐

Your more likely to meet Mr right off those stupid apps tbh

Restinggoddess · 14/04/2023 00:51

Good for you - the new life sounds way more fun and exciting
when you don’t chase something it usually comes your way, I hope the right person comes along and in the meantime enjoy this new chapter in your life

good work 🐕🌺

I think I'm now probably too old and too set in my ways tbh for a relationship now

It's not the be all and end all

I think I was sore because ex just moved straight on to next woman and my ex husband is seeing someone and I felt I should be seeing someone by now....

But I'm over it . I really enjoy my life . I've sat and thought about it . I'm enjoying my me time . Kids grown up and this is now a time for me .

And if I want to lay in bed all weekend with snacks and wine and my dogs and the tv - I can ! And there's no o E to judge !

I still work - 2 days at home and 3 in office so I get the banter and contact

My best mate lives next door

I have an active social life and night classes

I have now given myself permission to be happy with that !

Genuinely curious, why would you be more likely? There is no "formula" to people meeting....

OldFan · 14/04/2023 11:23

I'm the same at the moment OP. Got plenty I want to focus on and so I can't be bothered with the apps right now.

@LadyJ2023 I don't know if this is true for people older than 20s or 30s. Meeting a potential partner in real life becomes far more difficult.

pictoosh · 14/04/2023 11:30

Cool. Bloody good for you. You sound happy.

Curious to know why you had to involve the police after your last fling. What happened? (blatantly nosy)

anthurium · 14/04/2023 11:46

I'm no longer interested in a traditional relationship where things "escalate" in an orderly manner: dating/cohabit/marriage/children. Some of these milestones I've already met or tried (don't want them again) and some I'm no longer capable of (more children). Where does that really leave a relationship? A glorified FWB or just a FWB, some male company every now and then? I feel too old (41) to be building a life with someone (don't want to merge finances). I feel that was more relevant when I was in my 20s and 30s.

And the men out there (OLD) are really not capable of being emotionally engaged or supportive, if anything they seem to be damaged, jaded, cynical, broken...not all but most of them. Why bother with something like that? If you want something casual sex , there's plenty of choice since most of them seem to only be interested in that anyway.

Good on you! Star
