How to divorce when you own the house

If you have a mortgage and children how can you divorce? I'm just wondering how others managed this. My children are 11 and 15. Could you explain how you went about things? Thank you

We sold the house, split assets and both bought again separately. Both working although me part time so earning less. Kids 50:50. What's the problem as you see it?

  • You sell up and divide assets
  • or one of you buys out the other
  • or you "nest" - the dc remain living in the family home with each parent alternating staying in the property
  • or you get a mesher order(?) where one stays in the home with the children until they're 18 and then you sell up. (I think this is fairly rare.)

There's probably other options as well.
