I would get changed, clean table cloth (on table!) candles, music.

Does he know or is it a surprise?

JossStick · 12/02/2008 21:31

Menu???

Have you chosen stuff that needs alot of preparation but not much when actually cooking?

and yes - deffo dress up.

Shaniece · 12/02/2008 21:33

Yes dress up . What is your meal btw???

callmeovercautious · 12/02/2008 21:33

How long have you been together and what LO are involved?

Looking nice when you have made an effort with all the cooking can be hard but makes it special.

Think about music and the table as well. Are you planning romantic afters? Have you got some nice undies etc sorted out?

The menu is also important. I Once travelled for 13 hours to be with DP on Valentines day - I carried Potatoes and Baked beans as well as Sausages in a freezer bag so I could make him his favourite Dinner, 12 years later he still goes on about it Posh food does not matter - make something you think he will like (and you obviously!)

Haven't decided what I am cooking yet. He is not really bothered about fancy food! but I want to do something yummy.

I have a long black dress I can wear but might be over the top, I have some nice-ish undies I can wear, some require stocking which I will need to get!

I just hope he apreciates it and im abit nervous!!!!!!!!! Oh and we have been together 10 years this year (OMG!)

Well def go for the stockings - I might do the same

PurpleOne · 12/02/2008 23:11

Nice dress, do your hair and make up. Manicure your nails. Nice perfume.

Tablecloth is a must, as is candles. Nice music.

Ambience is the key here. Stockings yes, maybe even going commando under that dress sounds good. Give him a glimpse under the table to get his juices fired up!

WSD what is your menu? Oysters are cool as they are an aphrodisiac, plus ginger and chillies.
If he knows about this, can you not persuade him to wear a nice shirt and trousers? Tie is optional but aftershave is a MUST!

Why have I been single for 6 years now?

warmsummersday · 15/02/2008 18:13

Hi. Just thought I would keep you updated about tomorrow night. Im not doing 3 courses now but am doing a main of lamb shanks, mash potato and some veg and then pudding of chocolate mini cheesecakes.

I have just brought some stocking and can't decide if I should be waiting in bed tonight dressed up for when he comes home or if I should wear them tomorrow night, what do we all think?

Im abit nervous as never done anything like this since we have been together but really want to make this meal nice!!

No, I will just do it when they go to bed, they normally go down at 6.30pm so will get them into early! I have chosen this so the lamb can go in slow cooker all day and all I have to do is the mash and veg tomorrow and I did cheesecake today.
