As the title says, I see this guy outside work (as he's working). We're friendly and say hello, but often don't have time to go beyond that too much.
Most days I remember to take my name tag off when I leave work, but if I'm pushed for time I'd leave it. But this hasn't happened in a long while.
I saw this guy every day last week and we chatted and said our hellos. Today he surprised me and said "How are you, (name)" and I paused, I knew I would have remembered exchanging names with him but couldn't fathom how he'd know my name otherwise, I said "Sorry?" and he smiled and said "I've seen it on your name tag", this must have been weeks or even months back. He said "My name's (name), by the way" and made a small joke of how his surname is not "by the way". I wonder what made him come forward today and not any of the days before, and how or why he even remembered my name?
