Arguments and cheating confession

We haven't had the best start, there has been alot of troubles in this relationship with trust issues because of him.

During an argument tonight, I told him to "oh go off and sleep with someone else" and he replied "I already have". Due to the trust issues already caused by an infidelity last year this was a kick to the gut. I know I probably shouldn't of said it but he bangs on so much about how he said sorry and I should be over it and proclaims he learnt his lesson would never do it to me again and then says something like this.

Would I man really say something like this if it wasn't true because I know he's going to say he said it to hurt me

Could he have been referring to his infidelity last year?

Just get rid, op

Even if he did, that's almost as bad. If your relationship has descended into either of you deliberately saying things to hurt the other then it really should be over.

No definitely not talking about last year because only minutes before he was professing his innocence.

I forgot to write I hadn't accused him anywhere in the argument prior so the fact that he dragged it up made me suspicious anyway and when I'd had enough of him telling me how not good enough I was as a girlfriend that's when I said it and he replied that

Get this man out of your life and you will feel much happier.

MrsRickAstley · 02/03/2023 03:49

What does 'we haven't had the best start mean' ?

How long have you been together ? If it's been rocky from the start and now this. I think it's probably best to knock it on the head.!

Summer2424 · 02/03/2023 04:29

Hi @Niblo when my husband argues with me, he really says some horrible nasty things to hurt me. I think because you said go and sleep with someone else, he's said already have just to hurt your feelings.
I know the morning after an argument is not nice, stay strong and hope your day gets better x

TimeForThunder · 02/03/2023 06:00

Rocky from the start, he's already cheated on you, at best he's now deliberately trying to hurt you, and he's telling you you're not good enough as girlfriend. Please end this. What on earth is the point? Surely you'd be happier by yourself?

OneMoreCookieMonster · 02/03/2023 06:15

How long have you been together? Do you believe him? As in was it said in anger? And, if it was is it something you can move on from or will it always be there in the back of your mind? Have you had suspicions?

To be honest, it sounds to me like he's told you who he is. Deliberately hurting someone like that in argument is beyond cruel. Because, whether he's innocent or not you will (probably) always come back to that in your mind.

If I were you, I would end it. How can you ever trust him again? Not just with being faithful but that he won't be unnecessarily cruel to you?

AnyFucker · 02/03/2023 06:40

Are you of the belief that any relationship is better than no relationship ?

Dery · 02/03/2023 07:31

It’s unclear why you have stayed in this relationship. It sounds like it should have been over a while ago.

username1722 · 02/03/2023 22:41

I'm not sure what to make of that exchange as I would need a bit more context. Is he referring to the fact he's cheated in the past and you forgave him? Or something more recent?

Regardless, he sounds like an idiot. You've said you have trust issues because of his behaviour. Is this really the life you want to lead? Sounds quite depressing.

You’re wasting your life with this man.
