How to apologise and try again

Hi

i was offered a job in January and I agreed to take it but unfortunately we had a sudden bereavement in the family which hit me hard and the place was trying to contact me but unfortunately my mind wasn’t in the right place to answer or answer other calls

i really wanted the job but I’m embarrassed as I normally wouldn’t behave and ignore things like that. I would like to apologise and apply again. Are complained understanding or have I ruined it for myself with them?

I'd honestly focus your efforts elsewhere. There are lots of employers out there.

Well you could try contacting them to explain and see what happens, but I wouldn’t hold out too much hope as I guess they’ve made alternative arrangements. Good luck

You can but try! Many people have suffered a loss and understand the effects of grief and how unlike ourselves we can be during times like that. I would contact them, explain what happened, apologise and say that you’d very much like to be considered for a future position etc. it takes a lot of courage to do that, hopefully that would go in your favour. You’ll never know unless you try though and even if it doesn’t work out, you’ll know one way or another and probably feel, at the very least, good about the fact you’ve explained what happened. Best of luck and I’m really sorry for your loss.

Thank you, I worked along side them before so I hope they know is not like me. I’m hoping that if a future position comes available and I apply it won’t go against me
