is it me or is it so childish when DP ends his side of the argument with “don’t talk to me, leave me alone” this seems to happen every argument. To me it’s as bad as putting the phone down?

It depends on so many things like the nature of the argument, the timing, the way you communicate, how long it's been going on ...
Sometimes it's best to walk away or ask to be left alone because you're about to flip or can't take it anymore and talking incessantly and insistently to someone who is not willing or ready to talk is futile or provocative. Sometimes for everyone's safety it's best to walk away and cool off to try again another time, or not at all. People have different ways of arguing. Some people's normal passionate talking is shouting and abusive to others and triggering even.
