Anniversary Gift for Husband of one year

JaffaCake70 · 23/02/2023 04:43

Just what it says in the title really.

My one year wedding anniversary is coming up in a couple of months and I'm wondering what I can get for my 48 year old Husband that he can keep (giving his age so you know we're not youngsters).

I won't be spending loads as I've already booked for us to go away for a couple of nights (Bridlington.. hope it's nice, I've never been before). So probably a gift for around £20 - £30.

I know it's our paper anniversary, so any suggestions connected to paper would be much appreciated 🙂

Hmm paper is tricky. Some homemade vouchers, A framed photo, An old map of your hometown, Something hobby related with a 'authenticity certificate', A poster of a band you both love, Tickets to an event you would both like?
I see the modern 1st is a clock. Maybe there is scope there?

Shouldbesleeping8 · 23/02/2023 05:48

Tickets to something you can do together- a comedy gig or live music

TeeBee · 23/02/2023 06:09

A photo book with pictures of your first year of marriage together?

aus12 · 23/02/2023 06:22

One of those framed prints of the night sky on the night you were married?

SamTG · 23/02/2023 13:20

I printed out some small maps (paper!) of specific places that are important to us, (such as where we met, where we got engaged, where we got married etc), stuck them to a plain background and framed it.

DappledThings · 23/02/2023 13:30

We did tickets. In our case to the National Dog Show at Earl's Court!

I also found a print of a 200 year old painting of our wedding venue

gamerchick · 23/02/2023 14:31

I got one of those mock up newspaper articles with our local newspaper heading done that came in a frame. They do a.mock up front page article.

People still ask if it is real when they visit. Makes me laugh.

My husband made me a pair of origami 'passionate pigs' 🤣🤣🤣 I adore them!! Married 15 years now, one of my most treasured possessions!

Hi,
something from company called PersonalisedBee. They do some amazing personalised illustration gift, where you can pick your own hair, cloths, skin tone selection! I got some for Christmas and my sister's loved them so much! They are around the £15- £20 range and make a really great unique gift. Hope that helps.

lashy · 23/02/2023 22:52

A voucher for afternoon tea at your wedding venue. A nice gift to share.

TreeLine23 · 25/02/2023 18:52

Don't do what someone I know did - bought her DH a year subscription to a magazine... which he then continued to buy for SEVENTEEN years and it cluttered up their house as he refused to chuck any issues out and they didn't have much storage space. 🤨

luckylavender · 25/02/2023 19:24

A book. 1st year is paper. So buy him a book he'll enjoy.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 25/02/2023 19:34

I bought a subscription to a magazine which he still gets every fortnight 9 years later. He doesn’t keep them after reading though!

Ilovelurchers · 25/02/2023 21:02

I'd get him a book OP - does he read fiction? If so could be a special copy of a favourite book, or something new he will love. (You might get some good recommendations on here if you tell us what genres he is into).

Or if he isn't a fiction guy, factual book about his interests? What is he in to? My dh likes fiction but he also laps up a very boring (to my mind) autobiography about a sportsperson or musician.... And for his birthday I have got him a fucking tedious-looking book about the history of trains, which my dd spotted in a second hand shop and we think he will love! Or could be cooking, travel.... Books are great as I can't think of an interest the man could have that there WOULDN'T be books about!

For our first Xmas together I got mine a really lovely illustrated copy of a book of poems by the poet we discussed over text before we even met.....

JaffaCake70 · 05/03/2023 21:05

Thank you for your suggestions everyone.

I ultimately decided on a framed love heart bearing the lyrics of the song we walked into the registry office to.

It's made of paper and he chose the song so I'm hoping it will mean a lot to him ❤

I was literally about to suggest that OP! We got one of those from my step children on our wedding day last year and we love it! It’s framed on our bedroom wall now. I hope your husband likes it 😊
