The never ending fantasy

I became infatuated with a much older guy at work about 3 years ago now. I was in a relationship but we texted every day and at work we'd chat for ages. I never shared my true feelings and to this day I still don't know if he was into me.

Lockdown happened, I was able to focus on my relationship and we even had a baby.

Fast forward to now, I've been promoted at work and don't have time to really chat to the guy. He probably only texts now like once a month if that and we'll only exchange 2 or 3 messages.

I bumped into him yesterday and he said jokingly 'aw you never have time to speak to me anymore'. We chatted for 5 minutes and it was like old times. A bit later I saw him again and he smiled 'wow twice in one day.' I smiled and kept walking but inside I completely melted.

I really thought the crush had gone but if the person stays somewhat in your life, is it realistic to think you'll ever get over it?

He was hoovering, making conversation and being totally sickly.
You are worth more than this. Concentrate on the people who are concerned about you. This man isn't. He'd shag you and bin you off.

It doesn't really matter if/when you get over it. It matters how you choose to deal with it for as long as it sticks around. You can pursue it, or ignore it. A bit like giving up smoking or sugar or alcohol. You choose whether you want it in your future, and if not, you just ignore the feelings, and perhaps they'll go away, but nobody can give you a timeline.
