Would this put blokes off?

I'm considering giving the whole "Internet dating" thing another go but I'm not sure what I would put on my profile as I'm sure my "hobbies" would put people off...

So in your opinion, would a woman..who's interests were martial arts put men off? O wouldn't it matter to them at all?

Well look at it like this

Would you want to attract someone who wouldn't like your hobby?

I think it is best to be honest with these things then you are more likely to get someone who will like you for who you are not an image you have portrayed to get the most attention!

If I was you I'd put it on. It's better than attracting someone who then runs off cos he doesn't like your hobby not sure that sounds right but I'm sure you get what I mean. If he's the right guy your hobbies won't put him off.

Besides, it'll probably make most blokes think you're pretty fit

PotPourri · 05/02/2008 12:58

I think you shoudl put real hobbies. Who knows, you might find someone who shares your hobbies - how cool woudl that be?

MascaraOHara · 05/02/2008 13:00

I would definitely put it on.. I used to kickbox and it gives you an ice breaking subject like "wow that's an unusual hobby for a girl" etc

OverMyDeadBody · 05/02/2008 13:03

Put it in, it will only put off the people who you wouldn't want to go out with anyway. Presumably you want to meet men who are cool with your hobby or even have a similar interest!

Go for it.

I did internet dating for a while and the way I see it is you are looking to find ONE suitable man, not lots of unsuitable men.

So, definately put it down.

Have fun!!!

OverMyDeadBody · 05/02/2008 13:12

the way I see it duke is I'm looking to find LOTS of suitable men!

One of my friends did judo for Great Britain about 20 years ago and men love it. They are always tackling her to see if they can get her on the ground when they find out.

Has not stopped any man who previously liked/fancied her to stop.

postingatlast · 05/02/2008 13:47

a man here...

of course you should put it on!!

it's a brilliant passion, sign of someone dedicated, passionate, sensual, in touch and interesting...

whatever your hobbies are, you have everything to gain by being honest and everything to lose by not telling the truth.

Good luck, Mr MrsSnape is out there, kicking a punch bag as we speak

MrsSnape · 05/02/2008 14:24

Aww thanks everyone makes a change to find people being positive about it (I've not had much support on the subject!)

It would be an absolute dream to find someone who actually did the same thing...we could beat each other up (just kidding!)

I'll put it down, you're right, if it puts people off then they're not right for me anyway.

( runs off to find Mr MrsSnape )
