Genuinely curious as using them myself at the moment and struggling with the quality of men on them. Are paid sites better and if so what ones? Thanks in advance. I’m early 40s if that makes a difference. Hear loads of people w hi have met online but don’t say what sites they used.

Tinder 3 years ago. We are late forties and early fifties.

Spaceprincess · 10/01/2023 22:07

Tinder, I’m in my 50s DP is younger
like a pp said I saw the same men on all the free sites
found pof overwhelming and lasted about an hour on it
good luck

Can't comment much on the subscription sites but I don't think it makes that much difference in truth as the odd time I've paid its not made much difference.

Tinder for the sheer number of people which in theory should give you options. But it's a bit of a lottery.

I've always thought Bumble was the most considered in terms of being a bit more serious where you write your bio and can state what you're looking for etc. Always thought of it more as a site for those a bit more serious about dating (although it doesn't have to be).

Paid a fiver for a 4 week trial on Match in July. Only saw one potential guy but we got chatting, met up and are still together and smitten. Both 40. There were a LOT of undesirable characters on there though. I think my bf was on tinder too so I could have met him there just the same. It's just a case of good luck I think, same as it would be coming across someone in real life

Always thought Tinder was for hook ups obviously not. I’m on pof and it’s dire now think you can only send one message every 24 hrs unless you pay so hardly get any now! Would hinge be suitable for the 4o+ age group?

Yes....but not for the reasons you might think. Unfortuntaely, loads of men on there seem to be knocking off at least a decade from their real age, so you will frequently see men who look about 40 saying they are in their early 30s or even late 20s.

Tinder - both early 40s when we met - he was my first and only internet date and I married him (tho currently he is fast asleep upstairs after a row and I would quite like to stab him - that's not Tinder's fault tho, and I love him usually!)

AnnieSnap · 11/01/2023 01:07

Dating Direct (not sure it exists now) in 2008. I was nearly 49, he was 55. Been together since. Married in 2015.

Ohdofuckofdear · 11/01/2023 01:40

Friends Reunited the dating part it's long gone now but at the time it was brilliant,it was free for women and I made some friends on there, got asked out on tons of dates and met my lovely DH.

I was looking at coming off there(busy with DC,college and work)but my DH sent me a message and it was going to be the last one I opened and thankfully I did open it,we hit it off immediately and we've been together since our first date,5DC and 1 DGS later and we're still very happy together and going strong.

YouWithoutEnd · 11/01/2023 01:42

Bumble, had both paid for premium. I’m 36, he’s 40. I was the first person he spoke to, he considers it a good investment 😂

As it happens we already kind of knew each other and were Facebook friends (he was in a band with my first proper boyfriend when I was 17). I guess Bumble was just a means of breaking the ice and establishing that there was mutual interest. We went on our first date on the same day that we matched and it lasted from Friday night until Sunday evening.

I bloody love the bones of him and thank my lucky stars that everything aligned as it did.

Tinder. Now we are engaged with a 5 month old Smile

Endofmytetherfinally · 11/01/2023 01:54

Bumble 5 years ago. I was 27 he was 32. I don't know if it would have been harder if I was older. My age range was 30-40 and I met 20 or so men.

MaryBerrysCamelToe · 11/01/2023 02:42

Met my Ex on POF but he was an awful match for me. Really lovely online but a red flag bearing narc once we dated IRL.
Met my now husband at work, he interviewed me for my job before he moved to a different job on promotion.

Zanatdy · 11/01/2023 06:00

My friends met some nice men on hinge. She’s been lucky they’ve all been pretty normal and she’s all lusted up now with a guy from there. I was considering dabbling in OLD after over a decade single but then an ex colleague I’ve always fancied asked me out after I saw him again after the pandemic. It’s been a couple of months now and going great

FlumpFlibbertigibbet · 11/01/2023 06:10

Match, 2008. We were early 20s. Been married 10 years, and have 2 wonderful children.

Se7ener · 11/01/2023 06:12

The pub!

BigBessie · 11/01/2023 06:22

I'm in my late 40's and my boyfriend is 62. We met on Tinder.
I got through about 30 dates over the years and he only went on the one with me! We both think we have found 'The one'
I also suspected Tinder might only be for hookups but when we tell people how we met it seems Tinder is more successful than it previously anecdotally seemed

Plenty of Fish, in 2011.

Tinder 2020 ... proposed two years to the day ... wedding 22.7.3023 👰‍♀️

halfthesun · 11/01/2023 06:28

In my profile on tinder I made it very clear I was looking for a relationship not a hook up ....

everyonebutme · 11/01/2023 06:46

Tinder five and a half years ago. We're in our 50s. I had to do a lot of weeding and research though. Tried POF before that and had a year relationship with a love bombing narc. Recently participated in a group activity with about a dozen people and three of the couples in the group had met on Tinder.

Batshitkerazy · 11/01/2023 06:48

Bumble, mid 30s.

Met my exH on Tinder in 2013.

I prefer Tinder tbh as Bumble seems to attract many passive men who expect women to do all the work. My DP was an exception but he was also on Tinder, so I wish I'd just used that.

benienpartantetenrevenant · 11/01/2023 10:10

In my 30's on Bumble. I signed up out of boredom

qqq82 · 11/01/2023 10:13

Hinge has been the best one for me
