Anyone just need to talk to someone with no comebacks?

OP posts:
Monty27 · 28/12/2022 01:05

I will. I'm bored stiff. Christmas is a chore I could do without.

Hopefullyhelpful1 · 28/12/2022 01:06

I know exactly what you mean. I’m lost with the days already. How come you’re up so late?

OP posts:
Rustyheart · 28/12/2022 01:07

I will chat too. I’m trying to get the children to go to bed. There will be tears.

Hopefullyhelpful1 · 28/12/2022 01:11

Did you get my pm?

OP posts:
Monty27 · 28/12/2022 01:14

I'm stuck to the TV and most of a bottle of wine left over from Christmas dinner.
I just sat through a film and thinking about bed.
How come you posted OP?

SingingSands · 28/12/2022 01:16

My SIL didn't tell us they'd all had a sickness bug. We spent Christmas Day at their house. I spent 12 hours nursing a very poorly teenager today who was almost constantly vomiting and then had the runs.

I love SIL but what on earth was she thinking, hiding this from us? MIL today said "oh, I didn't think for a minute that anyone else would get it"!

Can't moan about it in real life as it will upset MIL. Thank you for letting me moan here!

Teen is now asleep and finally seems to have shaken it off.

Rustyheart · 28/12/2022 01:17

That’s absolutely awful. My daughter had a sickness bug. Up to Christmas Eve. I wouldn’t have anyone over. Wouldn’t do that to anyone

EmmaAgain22 · 28/12/2022 01:20

Singing that's terrible!

I can't decide whether to harness my hyper feeling to get stuff done or try to beat it and go to bed now. I think I went to sleep about 4 last night.

Hopefullyhelpful1 · 28/12/2022 01:22

Welcome aboard! I’ve got a feeling that I’m going to regret being up so late myself, so we’ll done for lasting since 4!

Hi night owls. Hope you're all cosy and comfy, wherever you are.

I'm in bed, we've had a lovely day visiting family today after Christmas Day and Boxing Day spent as just us - it was lovely but so was having Christmas/Boxing Day to us and just watching tv and eating ❤️

I may attempt to clean the house tomorrow and do some returns, if my local post office is open.

What else has everyone planned for the rest of the week?

I got up about 10.30 so it's fine.
just did a bit of tidying.

Monty27 · 28/12/2022 01:38

@SparkleFromWithin im meeting up with ex colleagues on Thursday. That's the best thing I've had planned over the season. Was here for Christmas dinner with my adult DS who turned down my offer of a Christmas in Lanzarote. He's spent most of his time in the gym 🙄

Shallysally · 28/12/2022 01:40

Evening all. Currently putting off going to sleep as know I’ll sleep badly and am
so fed up of it. In a bit of an insomnia circle
at the mo.

Can’t decide if Christmas was good or not. Time with DD was lovely. The ex, we are still friends, was here. Bit odd really.

Lexi868 · 28/12/2022 01:41

I'm quite new to mumsnet and is it just me or is it quite a fiery audience? I've even surprised myself with some of the stuff I've been saying. Like who even am I now?

Hopefullyhelpful1 · 28/12/2022 01:44

I’ve found the same, and don’t even get me started on some of the xrated pms I’ve been getting

OP posts:
Shallysally · 28/12/2022 01:45

@Lexi868, yes, the audience can be fiery. It didn’t used to be like this, I’ve been around for 18 years and although some corners of the site have always been pretty snipey, the majority of posters were far more balanced in their views and advice

SparkleFromWithin · 28/12/2022 01:52

@Monty27 leave him to it and enjoy your date with ex colleagues ❤️

Yes to the fiery audience, also avoid AIBU , not for the faint hearted !

I do find it's become a lot more savage over the years. I don't think I'll be posting anything personal again after my last experience ... however I do enjoy threads like this one

EmmaAgain22 · 28/12/2022 01:54

There are some awful people around atm. School holidays?

Shally my sympathies re insomnia.

Mrangrylivesnextdoor · 28/12/2022 01:57

This is lovely 😊

Shallysally · 28/12/2022 02:00

@EmmaAgain22 ah thank you 😊 is that why you are awake?

@Mrangrylivesnextdoor it is isn’t it? Thank you @Hopefullyhelpful1 😊

Rustyheart · 28/12/2022 02:01

I went to bed at 4 last night and probably the same tonight. My 8 year old is still talking to me from his bedroom. I have to take him to the park he’s saying.

Monty27 · 28/12/2022 02:17

Is everyone in UK?
What's your plans for New Year?

EmmaAgain22 · 28/12/2022 02:22

Shally not sure really. I'm a late person anyway but mum's been ill and the last two months have been horrendous so my sleep is all over the shop.

are you a night owl? It can be difficult fitting in with society's times!

Rustyheart · 28/12/2022 02:24

I don’t fit in with society’s times at all. Im
a night owl most definitely.

EmmaAgain22 · 28/12/2022 02:53

I'm probably making things worse being on here! Off to bed now.

so much snark and nastiness from regular posters too, depressing to see. Thanks for the chat, everyone.
