2023 - the year of me

I’ve been reading many of the threads in relationships and all the advice has been thoughtful and spot on, so I wanted to start my own thread - everyone welcome!

the relationship is with me. I’m 49, single, an introvert and I’m not looking to meet anyone but what I do want is to cultivate a group of social friends - to go and enjoy things with. This year, I want to focus on me and finding me again.

I’m kicking off my plan by going to a New Years Eve event at the local pub, it’s ticketed and the band has a great playlist. I’m going on my own. I love to dance (although not good at it).

all advice gratefully received.

You are really pushing yourself out of your comfort zone being an introvert. Good for you! Keep us posted on how you do. Inspiring 🤩

Yesss
I'm 31 but was in an abusive and co dependant relationship for over a decade
So I am starting from scratch
I've joined a beginners salsa class starting soon
And I went to watch a show at the theatre ON MY OWN
I have two kids so slightly limited but on my weekends off I plan to fall in love with myself again
One small step at a time 😍
Good luck
You sound fab

I meant to update about New Years Eve - I went to the pub! The band was great, lots of 80’s and 90’s music. I stayed bout an hour, it was rammed. I didn’t go on the dance floor but I did sing along and did mini-dancing from where I stood.

@dreammattemousse - I’m in awe of you going to see a show on your own - did you book your seat in advance? Was there an interval?

Yes I booked the ticket!
It was the pantomime
And in the interval I just qued for the toilet and just chilled on my seat
I enjoyed it so much I think I will go and watch something else again soon
No one letting me down or cancelling on me
I felt completely in control of my own happiness

Nice one! You go girl! Sounds brilliant. Apparently doing new things and learning new skills stops us from getting Alzheimer’s so starting early is defo a bonus! 😂
