First ever Christmas gift from new partner

Anybody else with me? It feels so exciting but also scary! We’ve been together 10 months and he got me my favourite wine and chocolates for my recent birthday. We decided, although may we’ll regret this!, to buy each other a gift that we think the other would like, with a subtle ideas and hints.
My ex was terrible at gifts so I have gotten him wed to disappointment 🤭 but I’m so looking forward to seeing what he has got me. Im looking at it under the tree now, and it’s a very non discript shape!

Anybody else receiving from a new partner this year?

Been with new man 10 weeks! We just clicked on date one and everything is perfect for us. We agreed to do presents but neither has tonnes of cash to spend and I hate 'presents for the sake of presents'. He is renting with his teenage child and his flat is nice but sparse so I bought him a huge fluffy sofa throw and a pair of cushions with bunnies on (he is my snuggle bunny GrinGrin) Total cost £30 but I get the benefit of them too! We had a little Christmas celebration last weekend so he opened it then and we snuggled under the throw Wink
I have 3 small packages from him for the 25th - I think they'll be personal to me but not embarrassing as my adult kids and my exH will be watching!! TBH he is so kind and thoughtful that whatever it is will be lovely 🥰

That sounds lovely!

I have two gifts. One says open whilst alone! The other, I have absolutely no idea!

I bought him a pod coffee machine. He talks about mine all the time. His teenage daughter is a coffee lover too and his son likes hot chocolate, so I’ve made a hamper of assorted pods for them too. I hope he likes it!

Cushions with bunnies on ? Haha I'd like to see his face when he opens them.

Oopsiedaisyy · 23/12/2022 10:46

Been together almost 7 months, he was quite specific about what he likes, and i bought a couple of other things.

I know he's bought me a book and a another thing i really wanted, but there's a mystery parcel. But they are just things, not a relationship test

He opened them when I was there and absolutely loved them Smile they're not 'girlie' at all, just grey with a small rabbit print. I dont want him to feel embarrassed in front of his kids! It was a way of helping him have a bit more comfort and also referencing something personal to us.

Been seeing my new partner for a couple of months. He got me some cosy Christmassy pajamas. They're so soft and comfortable!

It's still early days so we're spending Christmas with our respective families, but it's been so nice to be in a new relationship, where things are still new and exciting, during Christmas time.

forlornlorna1 · 23/12/2022 10:55

I still have the watch mine bought me 25 years ago. It didn't cost lots but it's beautiful and I treasure it. Reminds me of our first Christmas together just us

Sounds very much like you have bought him something you would like, rather than something he would like.

I'd be a bit put off if the person id been with for 10 weeks started to try and redecorate my flat.

Oh I miss this warm fuzzy stage of a relationship 😍 Enjoy it!

Been with mine for just over 3 months, I've got him a new fitbit as his has broken and some Levi dungarees as he keeps banging on about wanting dungarees! His birthday is early Jan and I've got him a new pair of Vans trainers, but he knows about them. I have no idea what he is going to get me as I haven't hinted at all!

That’s not my take at all. I think it’s a thoughtful gift and appropriate for early on.

I was in a new r ship (5 months) last Xmas. And my fella got me a beautiful cushion from Liberty. I didn’t think he was trying to decorate my home!! I was just impressed that he got it just right and can wrap beautifully.

BrewandBiscuit · 23/12/2022 11:10

There is always one negative person isn’t there?

This is a lighthearted and hopeful thread for budding new relationships.

am gifts are unopened until Christmas Day but ai did open my card which had some beautiful, heartfelt words in it. We saw each other yesterday and had a lovely Christmas Day out and we have an afternoon tea in a pod by the lake booked for next week. We are spending Christmas with my ur own families.

We were supposed to be together at my family. But Family situation and a death changed it meaning he is now abroad with his and me with mine. So we decided to do Christmas next Friday as we are not spending new year together. He is very specific in what he wants so he knows his main present. Got a few bits extra.

i haven’t got mine yet. But he did more for me in last week than gifts can buy so I don’t want anything. He bought me a switch travel case as I still game in my 40s for my journey down.

IsthatfreedomIsee · 23/12/2022 11:19

We're 5 months in and are spending Christmas together. I have a sneaking suspicion he's got me something...erm... quite personal. 🤭 good thing we're going to be on our own.
I've got him a book that we talked about very early on and a selection of date nights to see us through the next year. I really hope he likes it. I'm always doubting myself with stuff like this but it's very me...

Zanatdy · 23/12/2022 11:43

I’ve only been with new BF (if I can call him that) for 4wks so thankfully no presents!

QuattroFormaggi · 23/12/2022 12:58

Thanks @HaggisBurger Smile He's only been in his flat 5 months, he's had no money to accessorise/decorate until his former home finally sold this month, and he has been talking about buying cushions since I met him but literally hasn't had time.
And you're so right about the gift not necessarily being THE thing you want but it gives a lot of clues about his taste, how much thought he gives, and how good his wrapping skills are!! As a family we've never gone OTT money wise At Christmas and it can be hard if you're mismatched that way with a new bloke. Thankfully I don't think I am and that just makes me even happier 🥰

BrewandBiscuit · 25/12/2022 19:50

So I was extremely happy with my gifts! Beautiful earrings and a stunning lingerie set from Victoria Secret. He has done very well and made me feel so special.
He loved his gifts too so everyone is a winner

What a lovely thread ! He’s a keeper

topcat2014 · 25/12/2022 19:59

I bought my now DW 3 gifts after going out for 2 months.

Then found out she didn't like chocolate or gold jewelry.

We've still got the book of boring postcards though, 20+ years on

BrewandBiscuit · 25/12/2022 20:46

Honestly, I am thrilled. The earrings are just perfect 🥰

My gifts from him were lovely, very thoughtful and personal - a tree decoration and a soft toy from my favourite cartoon (I collect tree decs and soft toys). He's a good gift-buyer, I'm going to keep him!
And we're going on a walk/picnic date tomorrow to eat turkey sandwiches and cake by a river. I love that he also loves the simple pleasures of life Xmas Smile🥰
