I think I saw a ring...

So OH and I have 4 kids between us, youngest is 20 months and is both of ours, the other three are pre relationship. Not that the info really has any relevance to what I'm about to say 🤣

Anyway, OH was showing me orders for Christmas stuff for the kids and I am 99% certain I saw a ring on an email receipt. He absolutely is a lazy enough bugger that he'd order online as we live rural and it's a real pain trying to get to a decent enough town with 4 kids to sort.

Anyway, he went all weird, skipped off onto something else that made no sense what so ever and then made a joke about not knowing what to get me for Christmas.

And now I am 100000x going through my head like wtaf, did I really see it. It's my 30th on New Year's Day... he made a joke again this evening about it not being that special a day with a wink.

Wahhhhh what do we reckon???

what is he like as a partner? Is he an equal parent? Why would you want to marry someone who is lazy?

withoutapaddl · 17/12/2022 21:22

Woah it's a joke 🙉 he's great, we have 4 kids and life is a bit mental but we're a team.

I meant it as in he really would get a ring delivered rather than go and pick it up himself because a) logistically it's a nightmare just doing a supermarket run around us and b) if he can shop online he absolutely will.

Chill, he isn't a complete turd 💩

I’m in the same situation… aww an email receipt and wondering what will happen next!

withoutapaddl · 17/12/2022 21:43

I'm sat here now thinking how disappointed I'll be if he doesn't!

I hope it's not a Love actually Alan Rickman moment!! (Joking before anyone jumps on this)

We don't joke on mumsnet, everything is salads that feed 30 and leaving the bastard for not putting his socks away. Frankly I'm amazed you want to marry him with such poor email hygiene, my inbox only contains emails for 37 seconds.

I think it’s 4 kids shared between at least 3 adults. The OP, her partner and OPs ex? Potentially her partner had one pre-relationship too

LorenzoVonMatterhorn · 18/12/2022 13:02

It could also easily be an ultimate fighting championship ring he intends to practice in to fulfil a childhood dream.

Don't be silly, no-one gets to 30 without getting one of those. He's bought it for the kids championship.

gogohmm · 18/12/2022 13:13

Wait and see - though fingers crossed Grin.

Pretty sure I'm not getting one as I spotted a bag in dps car and it wasn't small with a jeweller on it.

Summer2424 · 18/12/2022 13:16

Hi @withoutapaddl yay!! So happy for you! Congratulations! Flowers

Could be a cocktail, friendship ring. Wait and see. Had a friend that thought it was THE RING it wasn't, nearly split them up.

TheCurseOfBoris · 18/12/2022 17:06

Try to talk yourself down, it's not an engagement ring - be cool (but we're all hoping it is and so excited for you).

withoutapaddl · 18/12/2022 20:17

Well I missed that deleted comment!

I settled down and forgot about it today. Mostly because 3 poorly children, one moody one and a broken down car led to a hideous bus journey.

However a championship ring is hilarious 😂 and so him!

Mince314s · 18/12/2022 20:20

It wasn't an email from somewhere like Lovehoney was it? I could absolutely see a man thinking grown up quality time was a good Christmas present and would explain the behaviour. Probably best not open it in front of family/kids 😂

RhubarbFairy · 18/12/2022 20:25

Ooooh. This is intriguing!
