I feel drained

My boyfriend tripped over a cable at work 2 weeks ago. Since then he has been off work as he can't walk. I have been travelling 40 minute return journeys to see him as we are long distance and do this 3 times a week. On the nights I don't see him he wants to video call for 1 hour 30 minutes a time partly because he has health anxiety and wants to keep busy. I just feel drained with no energy, still working full time, not going to the gym, travelling to see him and video calls. My job is draining me too. I am worried I am going to burn out. I didn't realise relationships took up this much time. It wasn't like this before his injury.

That sounds tough, I can see why you are tired. What do you want to do?

The 1.5 hour video calls sound over the top to me and I couldn’t be doing with that. But a round trip of 40 minutes to visit a partner who can’t walk seems like something anybody in a loving relationship would do.

It is a round trip of 80 minutes.

How long is he likely to be off his feet?

If you're knackered, stop going so often, no point making yourself ill. Drop it down to once a week.

If you're not enjoying the long calls, cut them shorter, maybe have a couple of shorter chats instead?

If you're realising maybe you're not that into him any more, give him the shove.
