How do you deal with 12 year old saying horrible things to you?

My DS is Autistic for full disclosure but don’t know if it’s more an age/personality thing can take something someone says and twist it into the worse possible meaning of what has been said.

He tells me how much he dislikes me daily and the reasons he gives are taking all the worse parts of me and telling me them, my mental health hasn’t been the best since covid and I’m not dealing with it the best I feel would have before.

Then when he decides he’s had enough he wants us to be ‘friends’.

I just feel like he really means what he says - do I just have to ride it out until he’s older?

I tell him off for being rude to me but that usually escalates things.
