Is this marriage legal in the UK?

Wondering if anyone would be able to advise? If two people are married in Egypt (one British and one from Thailand), would their marriage be valid in the UK or do they have to register it? What's the process if they want a divorce?

Their marriage would be recognised in the UK if it took place according to the marriage laws of whichever country they married in. Do they have a marriage certificate? If they are both now resident in the UK, they can start the divorce process here. If their marriage certificate isn’t in English, they’ll need a certified translation.

Yes it’s recognised in the UK, no need to register (some exceptions but usually the case). You can get divorced in a UK court, but you have to provide a certified translation of your marriage certificate with your divorce petition if it’s not in English.
